I've got to get this out now, while the memory is at its freshest. I really do wish I had a better memory--I'm terrified that this will dwindle to a vague happy haze all too soon ( Read more... )

Ahh, this sounds AMAZING - BEYOND AMAZING - and I am so happy you had this experience!

I'm sad to hear Anette has left the band. Poor Nightwish has rather bad luck with lead singers, doesn't it? I remember being so worried the first time they had a singer switch (and I still really enjoy Tarja's voice), and relieved that Anette seemed to do well. (They weren't operatic anymore, sadly, but they still sounded like Nightwish, if that makes sense.) I hope whoever they find next upholds the integrity of the band.

I love Kamelot. I discovered them through their song "The Haunting" and it's been a marvelous love affair ever since. They wrote an epic fantasy with great characters that lasted through several albums (Epica, Karma, Black Halo), and I love the fact that they did through music what so many other artists do through books. I'm glad you enjoy them, too.

It was so cool to actually hear people in real life talking about music I actually have an interest in, instead of just reading YouTube comments or fangirling on LJ. ( ... )

It makes perfect sense! Especially since, no matter what, we have Tuomas to thank for the source of the music itself, even if it changes style. :)

Wow. That is incredible! I've been delving a little bit more into their music song by song, but now that you've mentioned that, I'm going to make sure I listen to the albums in the proper order. :)

Only Epica and Black Halo are actually part of the story, Karma came before that and is unrelated (and also not a concept album).

The story is based on Goethe's Faust, btw.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up.

Yes, that's rather hard to miss, what with the antagonist being named Mephisto.
