Heee! Took a couple of Legolas. I remember when this movie came out, what a huge, huge impact it made. And I did not see it coming at all. It's sort of amazing, when a fandom pulls the rug out from under you like that. Don't you think?

Alas, I didn't know anything about LotR when the movies actually came out, so I missed out on all the excitement at that time. But I agree, it is amazing when a fandom explodes without warning.

People are going nuts about The Hunger Games now, what with the midnight premier being next week. I'm amused that all my Facebook friends (mostly people from church who know my brothers and friend me to be nice) are suddenly talking about how awesome it is.

Heh. Even my brother's been raving about The Hunger Games, and he doesn't even read YA. I did what I always do in those situations: gave him my copy of Battle Royale and said, "Read this, dammit!"

Is he Team Katniss or something? (One of my brothers said he was Team Katniss, while listening to me and another brother argue about whether Gale or Peeta was better.)

Far as I know, he hasn't picked "teams." In fact, my guess is he'd stare at me blankly if I even asked the question. He's not very pop-culture savvy.

Ah, I see. I've got mixed feelings about whether there should even be "teams" for the Hunger Games fandom. I can understand that some people do not want Gale vs. Peeta fights, like Edward vs. Jacob fights from Twilight . . . but part of me wants to rile up the other fans. *evil grin*

Could. Not. Care. Less. See, this is why it's difficult to for some folks to take YA seriously--who cares about the actual plot, let's fight about which Designated Love Interest we like better! Jeeez. *eyeroll*

I get why they do it (some of us have the fangirl gene, some don't, and that's just how it is), but c'mon, you're not helping!

You have a good point. I'll just have to keep my mischievous side in line. :)
