Oh man, I got some new headphones last night. They were a late birthday present from my parents. Sennheiser SE310 In-Ear headphones. These things are amazing. They go inside your ear canal and have foam tips on the ends to cut out all external noise. And I mean ALL external noise; I can't hear shit with these things in. Turn on the music and you can hear EVERYTHING. I'm starting to hate listening to overmastered music, because on the more naturally mastered stuff you can hear echoes from the recording room, inhalations from the vocalists, and guitar strings buzzing. It's great.

We got a new manager at the store a month or so ago to replace our kind of worthless last manager. This guy used to run Underground Reptiles, our main reptile competitor in the area. An excellent hire; Greg (the manager) REALLY knows his shit and is a pretty cool guy as well. He breeds and sells reticulated pythons and is trying to get into breeding albino American Alligators. We're actually building a pond in the store right now to act as a koi pond (during pond season) and to hold an albino alligator during the offseason. We're going to get a four foot alligator which, on the open market, would be worth about 20,000 dollars. Awesome. Of course, with a new manager comes new drama. We stripped the reptile manager and fish manager of the manager titles to prevent the "too many cooks" syndrome, which obviously caused major drama. Unfortunately, the reptile manager is an immature kid who thinks he's the king shit of anything animal related (or really, anything related). I'm pretty sure I've already described this kid as a more arrogant version of myself.

Anyway, I hate drama and I've lost the motivation to even describe the rest of the drama. Rest assured that it is irritating.

I finished The Cider House Rules and decided to kick my own ass and continue with Cien Anos de Soledad. My Spanish reading skill is increasing exponentially; I don't even consult the dictionary anymore.

I've started running. My goal is to run a mile a day, three days a week. I also bought a weight bench, but so far I've been unmotivated (and too tired) to use it.

Pre-emptive New Year's Resolution: Gain twenty pounds in 2008. If I succeed, this will be more weight than I've gained in the past 10 years.

Oh, and I'm not ignoring you Dave - I have just lost the motivation to talk to / IM anyone. I need a vacation.
