I'm a geek but whatev...

Have a slight cold, (a product of air travel, jet lag, and general tiredness after three weeks of full-out racing around Japan, I expect) but apart from that, things are good.

Am totally excited for Doctor Who and Torchwood tonight. (It's kind of a double-bill since they're on back to back, except Doctor Who's on CBC and Torchwood's on Space.) And can I just say, am very excited to be able to sleep in tomorrow.

May or may not be going to a wedding tomorrow. (Probably not, though.) There's been drama. We shall see. In the unlikely event that there's been a rapprochement, I'll have to figure out something to wear. Egad.

Even though I had an awesome time in Japan, there was still the rather uncomfortable fact that I was functionally illiterate for the three weeks. (And I haven't been functionally illiterate for about 20 years, kids. This is unacceptable.) In an attempt to prevent that from happening again next time, whenever that may be, as well as in an effort to be able to have a bit more intelligent conversation and a bit less communication via mime, I'm starting Japanese classes again. Technically they started at the beginning of September but I couldn't go last Saturday since I was all crazy jet-lagged and there's no class this week (probably it's the school's open house or something) so next Saturday will be my first class. I've ordered the new textbook from Chapters online, so I hope it gets here in time. (Technically, according to the Japanese school's web site, I should have registered in August, and it says that late registrations may not be accepted, but I've been in correspondence with both my teacher from last year and the teacher I will be having this year, and neither of them seem to think my tardiness will be a problem. And I suppose "I was in Japan for three weeks" is a pretty good excuse at a Japanese school.) I'm excited. Also, the more Japanese I learn, the sooner I'll be able to read the manga I brought back (including a couple of dirty ones. Yes, I wandered into the 18+ section of Book Off and couldn't resist bringing a couple back. They were like $1 each! I submit that none amongst you could have done otherwise.) and understand anime and song lyrics. (Like the one I'm listening to now. Awesome song, we saw the video on MTV Japan the day we left and I downloaded it when I got home, but I can only pick out a word here and there. The singer's pretty hot, too, I'd like to know what he's saying.)

Nearly quittin' time. Have a good weekend, everybody!
