Hope you all had a lovely Christmas

My parents came and went. Funny how they drive you mad when they're around but you miss them once they've left.

I had a very cooking orientated Christmas, trying a couple of recipes for the first time. On Christmas Eve I made fondue - I'm afraid to say that I didn't get the cheese one quite right - it tasted nice but the consistency was a little off. The chocolate one I'm more experienced at and was lovely. I didn't even have to cheat this year as I found dark chocolate toblerone with which to make it. Sainsbury's having stopped selling the mango and coriander marinade I like, I made my own for the quorn fillets for Christmas dinner. I like being a veggie at Christmas because I had yorkshire pudding and apple sauce with my roast and no complaints of them not going with each other or the meat. On boxing day I made a sweet and sour quorn dish, making my own sauce for only the second time - had I known it were so easy I would have ditched the packets ages ago.

Christmas Day consisted of lots of Wii playing - my competitive dad was not happy as he got beat at all the games though it was close a few times - and we had our traditional Boxing Day walk around the nature reserve. We left it a little late but the water looked lovely with the sun setting.

Mum and Dad left yesterday morning and my friend Mary arrived from Brighton today and will be staying until Sunday. We're going to brave town tomorrow to buy each other's Christmas presents and we may go out for a drink in the evening if anyone wants to join us. I watched the History Boys this evening and rather enjoyed it. Particularly good soundtrack I thought. I've just ordered the Control soundtrack from Play.com - I went online to order a Christmas present for another of my friends - having the flu before Christmas has left me running late with present buying. I'd best get off to bed now though because Mary went over an hour ago and she will wake me earlier than I usually get up tomorrow.

Toodle pip!
