TDA was a blast!
The MAGIC HOUR @ The Doll Affair
...because this was too lulz to pass up, we ended up working on a secondary display. XD
Here, Mochi is a famous dealer at a doll cat event, and Hikaru is accompanying Shizue Chietsu as she shops for... Mochindise!
And this is how our display looked, the chibi one right next to the big and srs one. The magazines (featuring
aymorly - if you remember them - and yes, the
magazines are SD-sized and can really be read!) and macarons in front of the yo's were for sale, in addition to the outfits and jewellery the big dolls were wearing. We were also taking a limited number faceup orders. (
lightlybattered's bloodied clipboard on our catalogue!)

Macarons and magazines- m.BELLISHED's (awesome)
jewellery by
rockahippo- Secret Letters' outfits (L-R):
Outfit 3 (Angel's),
Outfit 1 (Yuki's),
Outfit 5 (Ethan's),
Outfit 2 (Anon's),
Outfit 4 (Yin's).
(At this point, I would like to mention that because we're dorks and wanted to match our dolls' hobotastic outfits, we decided to also come looking like hobos XD
lightlybattered and I were in rags h.NAOTO, but
rockahippo was in loli! Yes, loli! XD)
And to make this a truly collaborative effort, all dolls featured have been lightly battered bear lightlybattered faceups!
Thank you everybody who came by our booths to take pictures and buy our stuff! You have no idea how grateful we are that we managed to sell anything at all. XD (If anyone wants Ethan's jacket, please let me know. :X)
(If you like our stuff, please join our community at
1magichour ♥ <- shameless plug XD)
And so. TDA has been such an intense experience, I don't even know where to begin. XD First of all,
lightlybattered,
rockahippo and I probably had too much..er, bonding time while preparing for our booth. I've also lost count of the number of days I took leave to work on the outfits and display... and not forgetting the number of days I worked through the night (or fell asleep at my work table). My bed misses me, I think. XD
As we were setting up the display, I actually fucking broke the display for the macarons (again!). OMG, I think that was a really stressful moment. >__> So glad we managed to fix it up in the end. ;_;
I am very, very grateful for having such wonderful booth partners. Thank you so much for your patience and for putting up with me and my lastminuteness. I think my love and gratitude for the two of them is beyond description. Thank you for everything, you guys.
Since I was also involved in committee work this year, I would also like to thank
raydance and
blue_meddy for the hard work they put in to make this event possible. This year, with half the committee overseas, only the three of us were left in Singapore for the most part. Even so, thank you,
starsthatshine,
night_child80 and
erushi for being so readily available to do whatever they could do even as they were miles away and busy with their lives. Thank you,
ivoryfox, for being our photographer once again (can't wait to see your photos!). Thank you to all the volunteers who willingly sacrificed a Saturday to help keep order in the event. And you know, I will never forget that morning, where all of us, even though we were all dressed up in expensive clothing - rori, aristo and naoto - readily involved ourselves in the manual labour of moving tables and laying table cloth with nary a second thought. I was secretly moved by everybody's dedication to make this event work!
The quality of the booth displays and merchandise this year far exceeds that of last year! It's very heartwarming to know that all the dealers took this event really seriously and worked so hard on their booths! I hope we get even more dealers participating next year!
Thanks also to
starsthatshine,
ivoryfox,
night_child80 and
kaisuki for the Christmas gifts! It was a pleasant surprise as I wasn't really expecting them ♥
Finally, special thanks to my dear friends,
fantasmer,
redeyes26 and
shaoyang_ for dropping by the event even though you guys aren't doll people.
fantasmer, you came even though you had to come alone! Thank you so much! ;_;
And now, more photos of the other booths. I didn't really take much photos because I'd stupidly forgot to bring the battery of my DSLR out. That, and I really didn't have much time to wander around as I was looking after our booth for the most part.
Monochromatic Dreams by

O HAI FELLOW SWEATSHOPPERS, YOU GAIZ WERE AWESOME, OMG. I just ttly knew you would be!!! I love your beautiful display (hand carved! think I cannot get over this) and all the lovely stuff you were selling! I am looking forward to seeing moar wonderful things from you! *_*
A (bad) photo of
i_am_kagetsuki's Arielle because she's so so so pretty!
Mikan's Poketo on the left, and Blueberry Pie and Nutmeg on the right.
shuui, I am so glad you did set up a booth in the end! The SD13B set you made is awesome (even though I did not get a picture of it ._.).
shuui's Chikai is probably my favourite Peroth. ;_;
Angel.Candy-Rock by
fragaria_vesca. Your stuff are always awesome! I am looking forward to your pre-order ♥ (Also, maybe you should invite your ma to TDA next year! XD) OH, and I just realised Kotone is actually holding our paperbag! ;_;
tangled by
silencestation and
stereophilic. Awesome booth display, but why would anyone expect less from the two of them? XD I also really liked the concept of the other half of the booth (which I did not get a good photo of ;_; ), in which there was light and a shadow of a doll!
Rose Furr Bergamot by
antiquarianism,
thereif and
yagamijo. Congratulations on the good sales! I wish I had lingered more to talk!
showsDoll by mori.m and
puddingneko. I only found out that day that the prints on the loli dresses they were selling (not pictured, however) were all painstakingly hand-painted by mori! *_* Can we say impressed?
Curse. I didn't really get to see this booth in detail because there were always people crowding around it every time I walk past. XD
Valse du Ciel. I liked this cute little display! Also, aramaki, I really need to meet you sometime XD;
Maverick. I liked this one too because the set up actually worked really well with the back light. XD
Kuroi Tenshi-ya. Again, another I didn't get to see in detail due to the crowd, but the kimonos are beautiful from this picture!
These are the finalists for the photo contest! Congratulations to
lightlybattered (5),
jamiest (4) and
empty_boxes (9), for winning first, second and third respectively!
...and now that we've survived(?) TDA 2008, here's to TDA 2009. ♥ This time, I really will start sewing earlier <- not famous last words at all. :X
