Secret Letters @ The Doll Affair.

Dec 30, 2007 20:27

...and when it ended, I remember erushi and I clutching each other for a moment, starring in disbelief. XD It's ended, omg!

Here be a really crappy picture of erushi's and my booth! Featuring... S:thete x Secret Letters.

L-R: Hayate, Midori, erushi's Saki (partially blocked ;_;), Yuki, Suzu, erushi's Serryl, erushi's Stefan and blue_meddy's Lucinda.

Madness began early this week, ...and everything from Wednesday afternoon to yesterday is sort of a huge big blur. I didn't seen my bed in days. XD When I went to buy additional materials after work on Wednesday, I had an ominous feeling about not being able to go out and see the sun for the next few days, ...and true enough. XD Thank goodness hucks helped me to run all my errands on Friday (ie, print namecards, buy stuff, etc.)

Such a terribly busy day!

Was mad!sewing on Friday night until I unfortunately fell asleep on the chair, and who knew, 'twas 9am when I woke up. Nine freaking aye em!!! Most horrifying. When I needed to reach YMCA at 11am, and I had not packed, had not showered and best of all...had not finished sewing!

It was a mini crisis, rly. =_= hucks came over at about 11am, and packing mostly involved dumping whatever looked vaguely useful into my huge pink Swimmer bag. Apparently, he had to cart the stuff down in two trips, and I'm like, ...wow, I feel like I'm transporting my room to the venue, ...ok, maybe half my room -- ...no, maybe a quarter, ...er, actually I just have way too much trash junk crap stuff ._.

So we reached at about 12pm or so, and upon arriving, there were so many people all decked out in loli and punk -- some holding dorriez, some not -- all waiting outside the function room. It was strangely exciting seeing so many people dressed up for the event! It was like a real doll event -- wait, it was a real doll event XD

erushi was already in the function room, looking every bit a sweet loli in a pink BTSSB jumperskirt. XD Started setting up the booth, and it was quite amusing because we realised our ALG army was really..army-like? XD They not only wore the same shirts (in the same colours, no less), but very, very similar fur wigs too! (See, the thing is, we'd originally planned outfits for our boys, but couldn't finish them in time... so we thought, ALG army, why not? The boys could be pretty accessories for the girls. XD)

Soon, it was 5 minutes to opening and I was still struggling with our display =_= Srsly, lastminuteness ftw, or something. When the doors finally opened, it was total madness for a while. There were SO MANY PEOPLE, it was unexpected. My personal estimation was about 200 people, but in the end, we had nearly 250! Apparently, we'd sold out all our tickets even before the event started, so those who came later had to buy tickets without booklets (and the lucky draw coupon!). It was impossible to even walk in the first hour. And it was bad because I was attending to the press as well, and had to run around looking for interviewees. Later, the door bitches decided to do the LV thing and only allow people to go in after some had gone out. I was rather amused. XD

It all felt so surreal. IT'S A FREAKING DOLL EVENT, OMG. (Not sure what else I was expecting, lol.) People were streaming in, wearing expressions of anticipation, and some of them came by our booth excitedly to snap pictures. I felt quite touched, actually ;_; It's not my first doll display, but certainly my first at an actual doll event. I chatted with several people who came by our booth, there were quite a few non-locals -- so happy to know! <3 Thanks to everyone who came by our booth, who talked to us and who took pictures. That rly made my day! <3

I made two outfits -- Little Red Riding Hood and Masquerade. Was intending to sell these at the event, and take a maximum of two orders for each one if there were any. Turned out the LRRH set sold out quite quickly (THANKS SO MUCH!), but nobody bought Masquerade (until the end of the event!), so I thought I might as well open up more slots for LRRH.

I'm so sorry I didn't manage to chat with everyone today, guess we were all busy looking after our own booths, running around, etc. The dumbest thing is, I didn't even get to walk through all the dealer booths at all because I was either stuck at my own booth or running around. Needless to say, I don't have photos either -- apart from the one I took of our booth purely for posterity's sake. So... doll event, hey? But I ended up not spending a single cent at all, wow. /._.\ (I especially really wanted to see Tangled, Angel.Candy-Rock and Kstarr ._.)

But I sold all my outfits! OMG. The two on display, and three pre-orders (in different colours). I feel so touched people are buying them crappy as they are ;_; (Makes the slaving marginally..more worthwhile?) Thanks so much, and please do forgive the crappy sewing! The money will go into..The Dreamdolly-sama Fund (TDF?). XD And I will work very hard on the pre-orders, yes ._. Shall also work very hard from now to fill TDF ._.

After that, lavenderlilz, lightlybattered, loki_angel, rockahippo, hucks and I went out for dinner together. Yum. Then, I realised it was kinda like Dolpa... was without food and water since I woke up! *_* Maybe it's a doll-event thing. Must have been the adrenaline. Then, while we were seated, eating and chatting, I was suddenly hit by a bout of..sleepiness. I hadn't seen my bed for at least two days. XD

Lots of very speshul love and thanks to the following people <3
- The Doll Affair committee and volunteers, we did it!!! Enough said! haha
- erushi for being a fantastic booth partner! So glad we managed to get everything together in the end despite our lastminuteness XD! And yes, we must not be so last-minute if we do it again next year! XD (Oh, we totally must!)
- hucks, for running all over the place to run errands for me, for driving me down and carrying my stuff and for helping to be door bitch yesterday!
- lightlybattered and lavenderlilz who patiently helped me to cut out my namecards while I was running around trying to get people! Thanks so much, you guys! (And both of you looked great in h.NAOTO, yes J, you!)
- sassystrawberry for the lovely cream couch that Saki, Hayate and Midori were sitting on! Irrelevantly, I loveeee your dress, you look so pretty!!! *__*
- lightlybattered and yagamijo for lending me the doll stands! I am so silly, I managed to borrow two doll stands and forgot to bring my own ._.
- Tanaka-san and Satou-san, for taking the time (and money) to come for the event! I was really happy to see you guys!
- L'Arc~en~Ciel, for being my BGM while I was mad!sewing and angsting XD
- And those who bought my outfits and placed orders with me... thanks so much!!!
- Thanks also, to those who took my namecards... I printed 50, but I did not expect them to run out ;_;

Secret Letters would not have been possible without your help ;___;

...can I also give special thanks to the four dorriez I brought with me? Without them, this would have been IMPOSSIBLE, LOL.

So sorry I didn't have time to draft a proper press release -- I contacted the media through rather informal ways XD;; Big, big thanks to all who came down. It meant a lot to us!
- Lovely Ms Y, now in Taipei. She is the one who did the lovely ZB report published on Dec 19 (READ IT HERE). I think that report was also instrumental for the huge turnout we had... THANKS SO MUCH! I was really happy to know that some people'd turned up precisely because they'd read that report!
- Mr D, who covered the event in pictures even though it's his offday!
- Ms K, who informed her boss and got her colleague to come! (VIEW REPORT AND VIDEO HERE)

And now... I need to go work on my website. HAHA. Sorry, I know I printed my URL on my namecards, but the site is not actually up yet, LOLZ. SORRY ;_;

To conclude this entry, thanks so much ;___; This would not have been possible without everyone's help, whether it's the committee, the booth dealers, the sponsors or the visitors. THANKS, EVERYONE!

hucks, suzu, yuki, dolls, friends, the doll affair, hayate, dolly photos, midori
