I can't believe 2014 is about to end. It feels like yesterday I was here waiting for the new Sherlock episodes and hoping the new year would finally bring some changes in my life. 2014 wasn't perfect, but it was definitely a year worth remembering.
I'm not going to post a fanfiction/fanart year in review because I did very little, a simple list will be enough.
Fanfiction
1)
The spectre at the feast (Sherlock, Sherlock/John)
2)
A reasonable solution (Sherlock, Lestrade/Molly)
Fanart
1)
Sherlock comic strip 2)
Hermione sketch 3, 4, 5)
Christmas cards: Mystrade silliness, canon!Holmes and silly Farin The real surprise of 2014 was Mystrade: I remember reading a PWP back in 2011 and even saving it, but then I promptly forgot all about it. And then after Season 3 I found another fic by the same author and said "Let's give it a go". And I never stopped.
END OF YEAR FANDOM MEME
1. Your main fandom of the year: Sherlock.
2. Your favorite Film this year: The secret life of Walter Mitty, Only lovers left alive, The Penguins of Madagascar, Magic in the moonlight.
3. Your favorite Book read this year: "Creature simili - Il dark a Milano negli anni ottanta".
4. Your favorite Album or Song this year: I loved the
Robin Schulz remix of "Prayer in C" mainly because of the video, which was shot in Berlin. I could spot various places in Kreuzberg, like the Franken bar, which is the place where I picked up the ticket for my very first Ärzte gig. *nostalgic sigh*
5. Your favorite TV Show this year: Sherlock, Broadchurch, An Adventure in Space and Time.
6. Your favorite LJ Community this year: I'm not really active on LJ any more, I still post and comment, but most of the fannish action moved over to Tumblr. But I've found a few interesting recs on
221b_recs.
7. Your best new Fandom Discovery of the Year? I didn't get into any new fandoms, but I re-discovered Sherlock and fell headfirst for Mystrade (Mycroft/Lestrade). Didn't see that coming at all. Oh, and I finally watched most of the Doctor Who episodes from the David Tennant era. The last one broke my heart a bit.
8. Your biggest Fandom Disappointment of the Year? I watched the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special the other day and thought it was awful. Thank God they showed "An Adventure in Space and Time" right afterwards: Mark Gatiss to the rescue!
9. Your TV Boyfriend of the year: Mycroft Holmes. Though Lestrade would probably be a better boyfriend. XD
10. Your TV Girlfriend of the year: I don't know. Either Abby Sciuto from NCIS or Molly Hooper from Sherlock.
11. Your biggest Squee moment of the year? the new Sherlock season, seeing a Coriolanus screening at the cinema, the last Cabine Pressure episodes, the Good Omens radio adaptation.
12. Your most Missed Old Fandom? Die Ärzte. I still listen to their music quite a lot, but I miss the silliness of the fandom on LJ.
13. Your Fandom that you haven't Tried Yet, but want to? I've heard about "Welcome to Night Vale" and I'm curious, but I really can't handle more than one fandom at a time. I'm also curious about the new Doctor.
14. Your Biggest Anticipations of the New Year? the Sherlock special! They start filming it in January, so I hope it'll be broadcast by the end of 2015. Also, job permitting, I'd like to see Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch in London, but apparently it's already sold out. WTF? This is what I hate about not having a stable job, you can't plan anything in advance. :(

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014
Sometimes, things work out just the way you want. But karma is a bitch.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Ordinary world, Duran Duran
