Double-you-tee-eff

I can't believe it: I've just got a call from a consultancy agency I used to work with 3 years ago (according to the scheme "my agency sent me to another agency, which sent me to another agency, which sent me to the final customer"). They told me they have a project starting mid-July and ending maybe in October, maybe in December, and asked me if I want to work for them as a freelance programmer.

Uhm, how about "No"? That's the same agency where a friend of mine used to work, when she got offered another job in a much better company, the people in this agency told her not to go, that she was making the biggest mistake of her life blablabla. Well, now she has a very good contract in a big company, if she had stayed there she would've lost her job, because she only had an apprenticeship contract and when the crisis came around, people with such a contract were fired. Every single one. And now they're desperate to find someone who wants to work for them with such a short notice? It's in two weeks and most people have already planned their holidays by now. Well, serves them right. Besides, I wouldn't do freelance work for them if that was the only available job on the planet, knowing them they wouldn't even pay me. I also find it ridiculous that you get paid after 90 days when you work freelance, wtf.

Whatever, the job hunt goes on. So far I only got one reply (from Switzerland) saying I'm not the right person for that job, but since my CV is interesting they'll contact me if something else comes up. I hate Italian companies for not even writing such an email. I mean, just write a standard text and change the name, it'll take 2 effing minutes! I also went to a job agency in my town, but summer is the worst time to look for a "proper" job. Oh well, I could always go work in an ice cream parlour...

But there's good news too: every summer a cultural group organises a series of open air concerts in an old farm just outside Milan. This year they couldn't use that location, so the concerts will take place in an old abandoned factory about 15 minutes from where I live. Yesterday I went to see Baustelle and I think I'll see a few more gigs before September (Gogol Bordello! Yes!)

My favourite song from last night:

The singer is such a big Jarvis Cocker wannabe.
