I am so tired of being sick. Louisiana is the cooties. Everyone says, "Yeah, that's going around" as if it weren't strange that everyone stays sick. I'm on the mend now so it's all good.

I didn't sleep much for over a week and it finally caught up to me. I got home from work last Tuesday and went straight to bed. Mark called me and woke me up. While I was talking to him, I hit the alarm clock and it freaked me out. I was puzzled as to why it was so far over but too sleepy to think about it. When I finally did get up, I saw that Mark had called me 6 times before I answered! I guess when I heard the phone I thought it was the alarm and kept hitting it. I called in sick Wednesday. Sounds silly, I only work 2 days a week now and I call in on one of them.

I felt miserable at work last Tuesday. A guy I know who is a rep for an energy drink company came in to see me. I think I'm his official taste tester! He brought me a can of every flavor of a new drink they are handling. He thought I'd like the design on the can since it has a goofy skull. He gave me a t-shirt too. That was nice. The drink is called Freek and is pretty good. Not Rockstar Zero good but good. My only complaint would be that only the flavor called Maniac comes in a sugar-free version. The flavor called Skitzo tasted the best.

We went to Cirque du Soleil Thursday night. All I can say is WOW. Our seats were great. I took lots of medicine before we left so I wouldn't be miserable. I only had one small bout of coughing. I did get a little concerned before the show started because of the people seated behind us. They were carrying cups of alcoholic beverages and were already tipsy. Nothing sends me into attack and destroy mode faster than having a drunk spill alcohol on me. They chattered loudly about stupid stuff in Chalmation accents but thankfully, they were quiet once the show started. I kept scanning the crowd for my friend Parker but never spotted him. He'd told me his seats were up in the "cheap" nose bleed seats. The show was wonderful but almost impossible to absorb everything all at once.

We hung around the house the rest of the weekend doing nothing. I sewed for a bit while Mark watched TV, until I broke my needle. Damnit. I have plenty of spares but thought it time to quit when I get aggravated. I had to replace it anyway to mend Mark's work pants. Mark hung the house numbers sign outside for me. I made it months ago but we never got around to putting it up. Now maybe the pizza guy will stop blowing past the house. Mark also put the purple rope lights under the aquarium. That's been a project on hold since before Christmas. I ordered the lights in early December. They were on terminal backorder and I didn't think we'd ever get them. The living room/dining room looks awesome now, more so when the overhead lights aren't on. The purple lights behind the buffet cast a beautiful glow on the wall and the soft glow from the aquarium spills across the entry. I think we need two more lights, one on each side behind the speakers on entertainment center.

We spent most of yesterday in the car. We had to run over to the other side of Lafayette to pick up stuff for Mark's work. It was a little over 400 miles round trip. I couldn't figure out at first why we used as much gas as it took to get to Florida but then I looked the trip up on Google maps. I didn't know it was that far! I thought the reason for the time was that Mark drives slower than I do. But we enjoyed the day.

We been on the hunt for a new dining room set. We found one that could be great if the upholstery on the chairs were changed. We pretty much accepted the fact that if we find a table and chairs we like, we are not likely to love what it's upholstered in. I found a brocade I love, it's a very dark, deep purple and from a distance the pattern looks like spiderwebs. I had one idea of having that as the fabric but instead of the self fabric covered cording or decorative gimp around the edges, have a fabric covered cording in a narrow black and white stripe. That would keep it from looking too formal and would tie into the black & white/Beetlejuice-ish whimsical feel of the kitchen. Who knows? Gotta find the table and chairs first.

I have a lot to do so I'd best get back to it.
