First of all Avril DID claim to be a punk, but not the type you're most likely referring to. Avril defines 'punk' as a trouble maker and person who's always messing around....yeah...that's her. She never stated that she was into the whole 'punk lifestyle', so don't assume things :P

i don't assume things, i've read up on her. but ya in one article she claims to mess around and being a trouble maker then in another article, shes like no, i'm not a rebel, i just like the clothing, its comfortable, i've never been in much trouble! but now cos of the clothes she wears, all these lil boppers like her clothing so they wear it, thinking oh ya, great new fashion, then thats my comfortable lifestyle gone, i'm then forced into conformity

Her clothing doesn't mean anything, just because she likes to wear hot topic doesn't mean anything at all and just because her fans wear shit like that too, that's a compliment for her.

Clothing isn't a huge statement, you can wear what you want. Being a trouble maker isn't being a rebel at all, you can cause trouble, but it doesn't mean you're rebelling against anything.
