Cassis laid an egg yesterday….I had no idea she was even ‘pregnant’….I joked about her looking fatter but thought she was just fluffing up cos then she’d look normal again….I thought Scrawny was infertile LOL They’ve been mating for ages, and ignored the nests I’d put in for them, and with no eggs on the horizon for months, I took it out and just let them continue…I honestly thought he was infertile…..Does it sound like I’m in shock? It does doesn’t it? Good, I am.
Up to now, neither have sat on it from what I know, and I originally put it in the nesting box I'd kept, but decided they were idiots and couldn't get to it even though the hole is RIGHT THERE! So it is now in the straw in a low container...but still not sitting…I read that sometimes until she’s finished laying, she won’t sit on them so I will give it some time….And they lay eggs every 48ish hours, so tomorrow I'll know if she's going to lay more or if I need to incubate and try to save it...It might be dead, might not be...not something I'm knowledgeable about and every site says something different -_-"
I checked Cassis and she looks fine and is energetic and eating no problem….I’ll keep an eye on her, and the new egg…I doubt it is fertile, but heck I’ve been wrong about them being fertile, why would I be correct about the egg?
