Last night my dad was talking about a baby cockatiel he fell in love with and I told him that if he didn't have the money cos the car insurance is coming up, then I'd get it. However mum wanted to go to the petshop we got her bird Zeppi cos we know he's good. So today we went there to look and we went to the bird section and at first I was like "NO NO NO...the pigeons are in TINY cages! I don't want to even see the state of the cockatiels" but then I caught sight of this lemon flash and the cockatiel came to the front of the cage and started singing to dad...So I knew I had to get him but...there was this scrawny little fluffball at the back of the cage and it just looked at me and this voice told me I couldn't leave it there...Logic told me not to get it cos it looked ill but I believe it has been mistreated. It's neck and tail feathers were a mess, in fact it has no tail feathers because they are in such bad condition. I think that it's been handled badly, was probably bred by a family who tried to tame it and got frustrated and held it wrongly and basically made a mess of things. Logic told me if I got it and it died, then it would be a waste of 15euro but I just knew I couldn't leave it there, that I could help it...and so dad gave me permission to get both birds! The yellow is male and is now called Lemon because of his yellow plumage and scrawny has been called Rei, which in Japanese means Beauty/beautiful because I believe with love it will turn into a beautiful bird...also it's said RAY like a dawning morning, again a new birth kind of thing...lol So my birdy family has grown.
