If I were to start a Cringe night here in Baltimore, would any of you be interested in coming and/or reading? I'd like to get an idea of the interest before I start talking to venues.

Also: please feel free to link this request in any relavent venues. The more, the funnier!

Hahaha! Cringe is awesome.

I'd read, but my journal is me basically being a princess. On travelling to NYC: "Why go see shows when you can go to barney's?"

Here are a couple insider tips:

1. When I contacted Sarah B. about starting a Cringe in Seattle, she was cool with it, but said I needed to use a different name. Hence the Salon of Shame. Start brainstorming your name now!

2. David, the guy who founded Mortified (getmortified.com) which came before Cringe, is slightly miffed about people starting diary-reading events like his. If you want to really cover your ass and make sure everyone feels good about everything, email him before starting your event. I got insider gossip that he's been really peeved about the Salon of Shame.

PS: You may want to delete this comment after you read it. ;)

Thanks for the scoop...I wasn't aware that Sarah was wanting to keep the name or that there was even a event that preceeded hers.

Yeah, it's interesting: Cringe was the first diary-reading event I'd heard about, even though Mortified had been around longer, gotten tons of press, is now being developed into a book, etc etc etc.

Personally, I think it's sort of silly that the dude is feeling offended by the fact that people are doing similar events (people who've never even HEARD of his event, like you and me) but whatever. I just figured I'd let you know so that if you get a huffy email from him at some point, you're prepared. *eye roll*
