On the move again...

Well, Liz and I will be moving again next month...after moving 16 months ago. This time, though, I'm more confident that it will be for the long term. I really love our current apartment for a lot of reasons, but the neighborhood--as I feared when we moved--doesn't inspire a lot of feelings of security. It's not bad, but the block we're on isn't great and with only one secured parking spot available, we've seen some minor damage/petty theft with our cars.

So we're off to Encino, probably as of the weekend of Dec. 5-6. We're swallowing hard and taking on $300 more a month to move into a 3-bedroom townhouse with private, gated, two-car parking. We'll have both a guest room and a home office/workout space (which may encourage me to go forward with getting the trainer/coaching certifications I've been considering) and we should be able to vacate the storage unit I've had since 1997 (wow), saving--currently--$63 a month there. My new job looks secure and we have reason to believe that Liz will come through the likely restructuring at Disney unscathed. I didn't want to move, but the rents we were seeing in what seems to be a catastrophically bad residential rental market convinced me that this is probably a good time to pull the trigger.

On top of the financial side of things, the apartment is only 1/2 mile from the site of most of the FoDLA Mother Grove rituals...which is also the park where we do a lot of our running and cycling. Tough not to see that as a bit of a positive omen.
