"Ah. You must be Akanishi-san," Toru's dad says in his quiet, polite way. "I'm so sorry my son has caused you trouble."
He bows, and Toru scowls. It wasn't even his fault, what the hell is his dad apologizing for? Besides, Akanishi Shuuji's dad is the one who's late. Clearly, he doesn't deserve the respect. Like, he does because they're Japanese, but he doesn't because he's probably a jackass. Shuuji had to have gotten it from somewhere.
And Akanishi's dad even looks like one. He'd rolled in on a roaring motorcycle and strolled in with sunglasses and a motorcycle jacket. He hasn't even taken the sunglasses off yet, and they're indoors.
...Okay, fine, if he's completely honest with himself, Toru would admit to being a little jealous, because Toru's dad is just a regular salaryman. He drove a modest Toyota Prius and had hurried in wearing a neat, boring suit. But even so, at least Toru's dad looks like a normal human being. Akanishi's dad looks like a rock star and also kind of a douchebag.
He doesn't even bow back like a proper man should. (Grandma would say that he had a bad upbringing.) "No problem," Mr. Douchebag Rock Star says grandly, like he's accepting the apology or something. "I'm sure this little twerp caused enough problems on his own."
"Dad!" Shuuji whines, ducking away from his father's stern hair-ruffling.
The set of Akanishi-san's jaw is firm as he regards his son, even though he's still wearing those stupid, glamorous sunglasses. "Shuuji," he says, and that's it, but Shuuji falls obediently if sulkily silent. Toru crosses his arms and glares at him.
Toru's dad smiles kindly because he is like a god of benevolence. Except when Toru doesn't do his chores or his homework; then he's like a nagging vulture. "Children," he says simply, as if that explains everything. Toru kind of resents being spoken of that way. "Nice to meet you, by the way. I'm Kamenashi Kazuya."
Shuuji's dad takes his glasses off at last, and damn it, he really does look like a rock star. "Akanishi Jin," he says. "Nice to meet you, too."

Also, he might have kind of an angry grudging mancrush on Jin. Except he'd never say so.
