Partying It Up

Which for me means... driving around. XD

Well, last Saturday, I met up with Pety. I was supposed to meet up with Nathan, too, but some miscommunication occurred, and we didn't get up getting to AMC until five minutes before Nathan had to work. x.x

But! We did eat at Steak 'n Shake and watch Jumper. It was nice to hang out, but a year-and-a-half is a pretty long time to catch up... x.x Especially since we usually don't talk.

Anyway, Jumper was... interesting. -_-;;; Pretty much, it's about people who are like Nightcrawler. But not blue. And infinitely less cool.

It was pretty sloppily made. I haven't seen Cloverfield, but according to Pety, the filming technique was somewhat similar. I mean, I'm sure Jumper was steadier, but just the fact that half the characters kept on popping in and out all over the screen and ending up halfway across the world makes it pretty disorienting. Way too much swooping.

The story doesn't make up for it at all. I mean, obviously, the idea is interesting, but there was no explanation at all. Is it a genetic thing? o.O Mutations? What? All you get is a short explanation by a British guy about halfway through that basically amounts to, "You're not the only one. We've existed since the Middle Ages. These religious nutjobs called Paladins hunt us down and kill us. I try to kill them."

...

Well. Okay. Great.

It also really doesn't help that the main character, David Rice, is about as unlikable as they come. He runs away after he learns that he can jump and immediately robs a bank with the intention of paying it back.

Flashfoward about ten years.

...

He is clearly not planning on paying that stuff back anytime soon. In fact, he's basically making an incredibly cushy living off of robbing banks. All over the world. And, you know, being a jackass about it.

So basically, he's so cocky that Samuel L. Jackson catches up with him and tries to kill him. 'Cause Samuel L. Jackson is the head Paladin honcho.

...I was totally not rooting for David Rice.

Anyway, he escapes the first time around and decides to... take his childhood sweetheart on a trip to Rome. Because that is totally low profile.

The rest is all action stuff that gave me a serious headache.

All I can really say about this movie is that Hayden Christensen has got to start picking better scripts.

We were going to hang out at D-Mills afterwards, but there was a tornado warning, so we just headed back.

Sunday was pack-and-drive day. Luke came by to visit around one, though, which was awesome! We talked for awhile about really random stuff, and he gave me the copy of Real Face Con (!!!) that he got in China. T.T I love that boy so much.

Drove for five-and-a-half hours with Fleming back to North Carolina. x.x Grueling drive. I don't know how he usually does it on his own. We sang a big part of the way back, though. XD It was fun.

But now I'm back, and we're hitting the ground running. Again.

T.T College is just making me lazier and lazier...

friends, college, movies
