Yes, I think it would have to be "dolly" eyes mostly because while they do make bigger contacts. The giant ones are only legal in America if under strict supervision of a doctor i.e. like while filming a movie. So I can't get them. What’s odd is that you can buy contacts that cover your entire eye but not giant size round ones. I guess it’s because as the info site says “if the giant contacts are used improperly they can blind you”. So dolly size it is.

According to the website the breath of her skirt is determined by her power levels so this would be the biggest it is in the movie as she’s at the height of her power. However I'm going to have to narrow it a bit because of the limitations of felting.

As you may or may not already know when wet felting there is a considerable amount of shrinkage almost 40%. So I have to start out 40% larger than the finished product so if I wanted a bottom hem of say 6 feet around. Then the back and front panels need to be 3 feet when dry so when I start I have to start with 5 feet across. And for my height which in the shoes is almost 6 feet I then need between 10 and 11 feet in the other direction.

So I'm afraid that her dress will be a bit narrower than it was in the movie. :(

Holy crap; felting sounds NUTS! If you're worried about width, have you looked at the dresses she's wearing either in the scene where she meets with Aslan, or the one a few scenes before where she's running around in the springtime turning dudes to stone? If I recall they're very very similar to this first one, but after her outfits have begun shrinking, so the silhouette might be more contained.

If I had to guess why you can't buy them here, it might be because the full-eye (scalara or something) giant contacts have to be specially fitted to take toric and eye shape into account... which is why they're like 300 bucks. The dolly eye are just standard and follow a base curve, which I guess is considered more dangerous in the US if you have an unusual eye curve? Giant contacts would be more dangerous if you're wearing ones not made for you, but you'd have to be a pretty big idiot to do that. And Jadis's eyes are noticeable but not quite THAT big.

Yes, felting is true madness! And don’t forget that everything needs to be soaking wet so before I even start I have to build a retaining “box” and line it with plastic. My current size estimation is 10 feet square. I may be relocating some of our furniture for a week or so. ^_^

I considered the later dresses but I don’t like the color combinations as much as the “Turkish Delight” dress the white /silver fading to blue is just awesome!

It’s too bad about the price of full eye contacts I think they would look great for the costume but $300 is not something I can deal with. ^_^

Also I was pricing out white fox pelts and they are so expensive! It’s at least $90-100 per pelt!

But the guilt of buying a recently murdered wild animal is free.

I’m just going to keep an eye out for vintage wraps that I can sew together.

Better karma.

Is there a reason you wouldn't want to use fake fur?

AH MAN YOUR DRESS SOUNDS SO AWESOME. I'm not gonna lie tho I'm a little sad her hair is down in that dress hahah. Now your wigs gonna be SO HEAVY jeezus.

Couldn't you make smaller pieces and needlessly them together?

The thing with fake fur is you can ALWAYS tell that it’s fake. Somehow even from a distance people just KNOW. And I'm a perfectionist so I don't want that.

As it turns out you can wet felt wool into very real looking dreads which is what I think the movie people did at least in part? So by mixing wool in to the wig it will reduce the weight while massively increasing the volume.

I plan on starting in January so I should have plenty of time to get it all right.
