I took a chance and bought the new Family Guy DVD (Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story). I got it at the Circuit City sale price (which wasn't easy, since they were out of it and I had to go to Wal-Mart), so it was 15 bucks (plus tax, of course). And I have to say, I enjoyed it. I liked it, it was one of the best episodes of Family Guy I've seen.
No, that's wrong. It's three of the best episodes of Family Guy I've seen. That's right, boys and girls, they stuck together three episodes (well, it's a continuing story across them) and put them on one DVD together. There's an intermission between the first & second episodes, and a small fade out before the third, but it's still just three episodes stuck together.
"But," you say, "What about all the uncensored stuff?" It's all language. They say fucking instead of fricking a lot, but that's about it. It even comes censored (which is the default!) for those who don't want to even try to get their money's worth. There's no visual stuff anywhere beyond what they show on TV. When they had the bath scene on the commericals, I figured they'd have Lois naked (where you could see something). Nope, nothing. Nothing more than the TV show.
Sure, it was three of the best Family Guy episodes I've seen. Sure, I liked it. Sure, it was sorta uncensored, unless your death. Was it worth fifteen bucks (or the 22 Wal-Mart has it for normally)? Not in my pocketbook. But that's just me.
I really did like the episodes; they were really good. Some of the best they've made. But they're nothing more than what you'd see on the TV (and what you probably will see on the TV before too long, from the look of things). Basically, I'd recommend you see it. But don't shell out your money unless you've just really got to have it.
