It wasn't something he talked about. Not even with Alfred who knew all his other secrets, but sometimes there were things he couldn't even say to him.
Ra's al Ghul had known about the guilt that propelled him forward to act, knew about the dreams that would never stop even when he put on the mask and became the bat. He probably guessed that Bruce wouldn't have a long life, he knew intimitely that the life of someone who fought injustice was usually cut down in it's prime by the very forces it fought. But Bruce never told him that he hoped for it.
He'd made a promise to his parents when he stood at their graveside and watched their coffins being lowered into the dirt. Never again.
Never again would he stand by without being able to act. Never again would anyone lose their family because a gun took their lives. Never again would children be left with their hearts torn in pain and loss.
Never again would he be responsible for the death of someone through his actions...
He still knew it was his fault they were dead.
He still knew if he made it to thirty he'd be phenominally lucky, as well as dissapointed that he'd lived that long.
He still knew that every night when he closed his eyes the bats would come for him.
But no one else did.
