With Valentine's Day around the corner we want you to think about love. Who do you love? What does it do to you? Does it lift you up like a bad cheesy power ballad? Does it destroy you? What does love do to you? What has it done to you in the past?
Love. Well I'm assuming you're talking about relationship love since you brought up Valentines Day so we'll skip the love of family, friends and the perfect wine.
Sometimes I think I might love, but that all consuming love that makes me give up everything before it isn't for me. It's going to sound strange coming from someone whose parents loved each other more than any two people I've ever known, but I don't have that in me. Although I have given up on the diamond earring club and don't see myself going back to doing that ever again.
To understand I do have to bring up the love of things other than your partner in life, because there is a great love in my life. A love that I protect and would give my life and fortune for.
Anyone that comes into my life will have to compete with that great love. And that's not saying that I won't still have room for another person, there are several people that I care about very deeply that could be described as love, but they will have to always know that they come second to my promises and to Gotham.
The city is my first and greatest love. There are good people here and I will finish what my parents started and raise it from the depths it's sunk to and renew it.
Most people wouldn't be content with being second to that, and I respect that. But that's the way it is.
