Okay, so I was sorta told off this week for not updating this thing properly recently. I guess this means I bore you for a bit about what's not been going on around here...
First off I should tell you all how Myfanwy, our feline resident, is getting on. Well, the short of it is that she's still pregnant. Worryingly so, actually. As you can imagine, I have absolutely no idea how pregnant she was when she moved in with us, but the vet guestimated her being about four weeks during one visit, which suggests she was somewhere between a week and a fortnight along. Since I've had her for sixty-three days, and feline gestation is approximately sixty-five days, that puts her between seventy and seventy-seven days now. All the websites I've read about this - and oh my god those forums are bitchy - say that anything beyond seventy-one days requires a vet visit, but since she's not showing any obvious signs of a problem the PDSA aren't prepared to take a look at her. And I'm not in a position to take her to the money-grabbing private vet right at the moment.
So basically I am watching her like a hawk and trying to keep her happy and comfortable. We put a box together for her, but she's shown no interest in it, or in making a nest of her own. I orignally put it in the corner behind the side table in the living room, so it could be near the radiator, but I've now put it in my room since that's the quietest, warmest room in the flat and she likes to go chill out in there. We're also playing with her a lot, since I read that can help bring on labour in overdue cats.
She seems perfectly alright - she's still got an interest in food, though she's picking these days and then grumbling when the food's no longer quite as fresh later on, she's prone to very frantic mad-half-hours which are hilarious to watch, and she's still looking for cuddles now and then. She absolutely hates me being on the laptop, as it stops her getting my full attention! *laughs* She doesn't have Sym's willingness to snooze alongside me.
Ummm... what else can I say? December came and went - for a couple of weeks it looked like I was set to have a good Christmas and the best New Year ever, but a couple of days before Christmas that went Pete Tong. In the end I had a typically 'meh' Christmas - though Boxing Day was the best EVER thanks to a long visit from Mel and Will - and I spent New Years Eve distracting myself with dvds and a pint of Ben & Jerry's Fudge Brownie frozen yoghurt.
The snow was a nightmare, as my estate was completely shut down and we had to walk for over half an hour to get to the roundabout where the bus was picking up. Took them a week to get the buses back through the main road, thanks to all the people who'd abandoned their cars and then not tried to move them once the snow stopped. Since the buses couldn't get through, the snow on the road wasn't getting cleared, and no-one was doing anything about it. Epic fail there, Cardiff City Council....
Work continues to suck, though it's not been too bad the last couple of weeks. I was put on a 'performance plan' due to my ever-poor productivity (it's the only thing I have failed on over the last year) and my supervisor's been supposed to be sitting with me for an hour or so most mornings to offer tips and stuff, but we have been somewhat too busy for that. Ironically, since then I've been hitting my target practically every shift....
Choir is cool, as always. So, so glad to be done with the Christmas stuff for another year, and the two week break from rehearsals over the holidays was painful - it was so nice to get back into it again. This term we're working on some new material; we've started learning 'Proud Mary', 'Walking On Sunshine' and 'Kung Fu Fighting', and we're gonna be working on Lulu's 'Shout' and Oasis' 'Wonderwall' in the next few weeks. I've heard all the harmonies and it's gonna sound awesome :-)
We're not doing the SGM this year - which is disappointing, partially because that was our most regular gig and partially because it means we have to actually go to the damn thing this year! We're not sure what gigs we're going to have this year, though it's looking likely we'll be participating in a fundraiser for the British Heart Foundation, in memory of a colleague from Swansea who died suddenly last month.
Umm... think that's about it? Mostly I'm just doing my thing; Rowan, work and trying to not get too far behind with my studies.
