No breakfast for you
After dancing up a storm at GZ -- I haven't worked up a sweat there in years, it's like another world when DJ Panic is away -- I really had a taste for some scrambled eggs and toast. And coffee. So we decided to head to the Uptown Diner on Hennepin. They're normally open after bartime.
When I got there, there were plenty of cars in their parking lot, and a bunch of people standing out front, milling around, some talking on cellphones trying to figure out what to do. An employee came out to apologize for being closed; apparently the city is dicking them around. They have the permit to be open evenings & nights. But they don't have the permit to be open 2 to 5 am. They might've been serving illegal breakfasts for quite some time before the city showed up to shut them down.
Government ... worthless!
