Two Drabbles
I wrote these two drabbles for the batfic100 drabble community, but I was inspired by this community, so I thought I'd share. These don't fit into either of the current challenge topics (sorry!). (I guess I need some tags added ~ thanks!)

"Clown Captured! Dent Dead!"
Bruce Wayne looked up from his green tea latte' at the sound of Gotham's newsboys shouting out the lurid headlines. He groaned as his sore shoulder was brushed by a rambunctious boy peddling his popular product in the crowded sidewalk cafe.
"Joker and Scarecrow become Arkham roommates!" the newsie continued with enthusiasm. "Want a pape, Mister?"
He carefully arranged his expression as he dug in his pocket for a dollar, trying to forget the face of the newest resident at Gotham's infamous institution, the one who was supposed to be dead.
"I'll take one," he said.

His drugged dreams were interrupted by the voices of the attendants re-dressing his broken limbs.
"The Times says it was the biggest funeral in Gotham history. Even bigger than Commissioner Loeb's."
"Well, nobody got shot, 'cause that crazy clown's in here now."
"Gotham City is doomed without its White Knight. The rats will take over the ship."
"At least they won't close this place. I need the job."
He opened his eyes and their remote faces came into focus, stealing glances at his monstrous visage, horror but no recognition in their eyes.
He wanted to shout:
I was him once.
