Damian hypothesized that an average child would have burst into tears of frustration, but he was far beyond that level. He wanted HIS father, the commanding father he respected and he had gotten him back, but why did his father feel the need to do this at all? He wished he knew how to articulate all of what he wanted to say, but he didn’t even know what he wanted to say. He felt slighted and his father didn’t even see it that way.
He didn’t want to be treated like the others. He wanted more, he wanted to be held above them, not held to the same rules. He wanted to be exempt from the petty idiocies that they had been subjected to. He wanted his father to put him first. And each day, he knew that was less likely to happen. He didn’t want to be changed into one of them. He wanted to be Damian.
Still, feeling his father’s stern gaze on him made him feel safe. He knew this man, he had dreamed of meeting him since birth, he craved being around this man. Not Brucie, never Brucie.
Brucie was someone he dreamed of punching. He was….pleased with Timmy assisting him, and didn’t know the word. “Ah,” he said softly. His father. Not theirs. He was still angry, but Timmy’s words had made it harder to keep on a tirade. He would have to rethink his next move. He looked away and returned to silence, to his dark thoughts.
