Because Being Crazy Wasn't Bad Enough

Pam hurried down the street, taking the last block and a half in a dead run. There were so many other things she'd prefer to do with her time between classes, but no one could in good conscience could leave Arkham entirely in the hands of someone unqualified like Rosie.

Surely two perfectly unqualified heads are better than one, right?

*Also on his way to Arkham, Edward Nigma wove a somewhat scruffy-looking secondhand bicycle through the city streets. He rode a bike not out of environmental concerns, but financial--recovering from the bankrupt bust that had been his fledgeling dot-com a few years ago, he could less than afford the ever-increasing costs of gasoline and sundry automotive maintenance. A grad student, he is enrolled in Dr. Crane's class as a nontraditional student, working on another degree, and he needs to get to the work he's been stuck with in that class.*

Pam pauses at the door, and when she sees Edward coming she waits for him there, leaning against the door and smiling.

And it's totally not that she has a crush on him so stop thinking that.

Why, Miss Isley, so good to see you. Taking in the afternoon sun, are we?

*Edward slings a leg over the bike so that for the last twenty feet or so he is standing on one pedal and holding the handlebars, coasting toward a sturdy-looking post to which he can chain it. Indeed, he amuses himself for just a moment by stopping the bike by stepping down rather than using the brake. In a moment, the bike is chained in place, and he adjusts the messenger bag slung over his shoulder.*

Were you waiting for anyone in particular?

"I always enjoy the sun, you know that." She flips her hair over her shoulder in a classic 'look-at-me-I'm-pretty' way. "Looking forward to our project?"

True.

*He pauses, and may well be looking-at-her-she's-pretty, before surmounting the steps to the her and the door.*

Oh, it has its charms. Such a puzzle, the maddened mind. Are you looking forward to being rather in charge?

"Ha! No. Rosie's in charge, I'm just the one who knows the students." She lingers a moment longer before moving aside and opening the door.

Ah, but you know us better, she depends on you.

*He slips inside, tarrying just inside. One might expect a gentleman to hold the door, but he knew her fondness for sunny days, and her reluctance to leave that for the dank drear of Arkham's interior. So, he went first, to give her another moment to tarry. Truth be told, he was more comfortable in the dim light anyway.*

She lets the door shut behind her reluctantly, and shivers a bit in the gloom.

"True, but we all depend on her to be here when we have classes and things. So, what are you thinking of doing today?"

Hmm. I have the beginnings of some ideas, but I've yet to firmly decide on one. What did you have in mind?

"They need to spend more time out-of-doors, I think. All this dark and gloom can't possibly be good for them."

She walks with him through the halls, glancing over at him frequently.

Some don't mind the dark and gloom... but you have a point, I don't think these are those. The courtyard?

*He glances to her in kind, smiling a touch from time to time.*

"That's what I was thinking." She smiles at him. "I suppose they could do your puzzles there..."

Some of the simpler ones, perhaps. Wouldn't want to tax them too heavily, after all.

*His smile grows, rather pleased that his little puzzles are appreciated.*

"Yes, better to start them with something easy, we don't want them to get frustrated. If you get Mister Dent, I'll go get Miss Kyle." She smiles brightly.

That sounds fair. I'll see you soon.

*And so saying, he diverts his path down a hall toward Harvey Dent's room. ((Do we have a Harvey Dent?))*

And she goes off to collect Miss Kyle.

((Not as of yet, nor have we a Selina))
