These are the ones I haven't read.........
Some of them I can't bear the sight of : Nos. 5, 28, 76 and 61 spring to mind. Requests for them are usualy from desperate college students who've left it far too late to get a copy, and who are almost always always rude and baffled at the prospect of having to provide their own copy having missed the 15 or 16 copies that the library service can provide.
Some I can't bring myself to read as they seem to have the awful taint of "book club" all over them, you just know that these books are being "read" by people who wouldn't normally read this type of book, who don't understand what they've just "read" and who, once again, are surprised when they can't instantaneously get hold of a copy of a book for their special snowflake selves that has an endless reserve list (because 6 bandwaggon bookclubs are reading it at once) : Nos 37, 38, 17, 50, 51, 69, 88 and 64 spring to mind here; 64 in particular seemed almost unreadable.
A couple I'm pretty certain I have read, I just can't remember a single thing about them so I can't justify my suspicion and therefore they stay on the list.
Obviously I have read most of the Bible, I skipped all the dull "begats" though, therefore I can't claim to have read the whole thing. And I can't say I've read everything Shakespeare ever wrote either, but given my obsession with that bit of history I'd say I've ploughed through most of it, some with delight and some with a feeling of duty.
So great Hive mind, of those books left on this list which do you suggest I read, and why?
