On Wednesday night, my computer insisted on constantly performing illegal operations until it finally crashed. When I rebooted it politely informed me it had recovered from a "serious error" and would I like to submit a data report. As it was persistant in this request, I eventually relented. Then I discovered my internet wasn't working!
I got a load of 403 Forbidden errors and after about an hour on msn to
matryx yesterday morning (yep, msn was working but nothing else was!), we finally deduced IE had become corrupted. The problem of not connecting to the net was resolved by a ftp'd version of Firefox.
However, today, my computer politely informs me it's still recovering from serious errors! I haven't had time to uninstall IE, which I think would be a good move but this is what was on the error report:
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini101007-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1/LOCALS~1\Temp\WER5.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml
Now I ran a virus scan the other night and found two infected files which, according to Norton, have now been removed and deleted. Does anyone know what's going on and how I can fix it?
