its been a while

Ive just watched a documentary on tv about people on the dole and it prompted me make a comment.

Life on the isle of wight ticks by very slowly but happily.

I was a bit put out when the tv programm i just watched seemed to demegrate all the jobless as 'not wanting a job'. After all, it was the goverenment that told me I had to give up my job and move over here so that i would win full custody of my child. Ive been on the dole for a year now - bloody hell. Its no great joy - not working, i'm skint beyond words and just about get by. Ive had about 15 interviews over the last year ,most of which were on the mainland , a few train stops away. Most employers have said i'm over qualified / under qualified / live to far away or they just dont like me. My last interview has to be the worst , six of us candidates sat in a circle and had to discuss how to trek across the moon whilst carrying your equipment (the interviewer took notes) then we had a one hour exam (with proper exam conditions) and the two candidates that got the job were internal candidates who knew the interviewer.

I have started an open university degree in Physics , mostly for fun but it looks good that i'm trying to get a graduate level education to fill the time. Apparently the new government scheme to help get me to work will involve a basic level maths compulsery course - so i will be doing this along side learning 2nd order differentiation , triganometry and ploynomials for the OU course.

I also go to the gym A LOT, it fills the time and i'm fitter now than i was 10 years ago.( the belt is on the last hole)

Angel seems to like the time i have spare, since i can help with her homework and getting ready for next years SAT's exam.

My court case in pakistan continues, I was heard by the judge twice this year but have been sent to the back of the que whilst he makes his decision.(its a very big que)

For the most part i'm happy, and i get to go out this weekend (for the first time in two months), so i will be having more than a few beers. (give me a break i havent had any alcohol for two months now).

Im sure a job will come eventually but after a while you do think that some employers expect the impossible at interviews, ive sat more exams in interviews than ever before - in the mean time i still have day time tv , you can never have to much buffy the vampirte slayer.
