Sometimes Smallville just frustrates me, and then this show manages to make me squee with joy.

This episode made me happy and sad. Obviously, sad because Hawkman dies. But he went out a hero, saving a life, and he went out in style. Michael Shanks is brilliant as Hawkman and Carter Hall. He takes the part seriously, and it works. His gruff exterior is softened by the people around him. He adores and wants to protect and teach both Clark and Oliver. I loved him as Hawkman and I couldn't imagine any one else playing this part as well.

This smile on Clark's face is breathtaking and Carter standing behind him with an all knowing look in his eyes.
He has words of wisdom for everyone, including Oliver and words of sympathy.
I'm kind of in love with the way he looks at Oliver. I ship it!
Damn! He makes Hawkman look so good!
I have decided that I want this helmet for Christmas and I want those wings.
I thought the wings retracting was a cool idea.
I love a man with wings!
