Yeah, but I don't remember any really lame ones before you. If the metric we're using is 'stupid, irritating and pointless', my top three are this one, the animals one and the musical one. In no specific order. I refuse to invest any more mental energy on working out how something is more ridiculous than something else.

Agreed. You know, some months? I could actually be tricked into thinking the Admiral has a plan and the floods actually mean something. But then he pulls some crap like that and I remember, no, he's just a sadist with godlike powers.

Sometimes I thought something at home was steering events too, even when it wasn't possible. Seeing meaning where there wasn't any.

[For awhile there, he thought he had a destiny. The events around him made a story, and he was the hero at the center that was going to make everything alright again if he just followed what his gut told him to do and was brave and didn't hesitate.

You can't think of floods as sentient. Or whatever's behind them. That way lies.... madness. Or at least a lot of impotent frustration.
