After the first round of
got_exchange we had a surprisingly successful comment fic meme going for a while (
here's a list of all the fics that were written last time), so I thought it might be fun to do this again. (Like last time, it's posted on the mod account journal because I don't want to enable anonymous comments on the exchange community.)
I changed the

“I won’t quarrel with him,” he promises her, although there would be something satisfying in focusing his anger on one of the people he considers responsible for the destruction of his family. “I need no new fights, but Winterfell is in ruins, Sansa, and the North is not yet safe.”
At his words, he sees for the briefest of moments that he is not the only one who is tired: lovely though she is, there is a weariness about her eyes. She seems much too old for the number of name days she has counted. There is much he does not know about her, and he would change that. He would share her burden. He would ask her what she has been through at the hands of Petyr, at the hands of the Lannisters, but he fears her answer, and if she gives it, he might not be able to keep his hands off the Kingslayer. He would rather not begin on a foundation of broken promises.
Her voice is steady when she asks, “You would have me wait?”
He suspects Winterfell has been a dream of hers that gave her hope, when all her other girlish dreams were shattered. He can almost hear her in his head, saying, home.
“I would.”
He would say more, reason with her, but he inexplicably believes that as much as he can hear her faintly in his mind, she must be able to hear him as well if he only focuses his efforts. What he needs her to know is that he has found her and he would not lose her again.
She sips from her cup, and if she is disappointed by his counsel, she does not display it openly. Perhaps she has heard him. There are other thoughts, less brotherly thoughts, that he would rather shield her from, however, he thinks, as her hair brushes across her back as she leans forward.
“Very well,” she says with no hint of resignation, her shoulders squared, as she places the cup on the wide planked table before her. “I would stay by your side then. Would that be an imposition?”
Certainly not an imposition, but that option is not much safer than a removal north. “I’m in the middle of a war,” he says with a frown.
Her brows arch, and she reminds him of the proud little girl he left in Winterfell, when she looks down her sloping nose at him and asserts, “I am stronger than I look, Jon.”
“I’ve no doubt of that,” he says, scratching at his beard. Life has made her strong or maybe that is her inheritance as a Stark, as much as her lovely read hair is what her mother’s family gave to her.
When she embraced him on the field, her hair smelled of lilacs and it was soft under his scarred, callused hands.
It would be better if she stayed here in the Vale, where she is safe.
“And perhaps I can make myself useful?”
He indulges for a moment the notion of having her with him and how that might serve him. He feels more himself, more human sitting at her side than he has in months, and that alone is a boon. She has reminded him why he fights at all. She has reminded him there are things worth saving. It is selfish, he fears, but he hears himself saying yes.

As always, I adore how fierce and strong-minded your Sansa is. It's such a wonderful counterpoint of Jon's expectations vs. the reality of Sansa; he still sees her as something to protect, but is coming to realize that she's a force to reckon with in and of herself. I especially liked Jon's assumption that Jaime was the one to kill Littlefinger, and how Sansa shuts him down. Atta girl. :)
Obviously, the whole Jon-Jaime jealousy thing makes me want to jump and clap my hands, because of COURSE that's how they'd behave around each other in this circumstance. I especially like how cavalier Sansa is about Jon's Jaime-worries, because to her, at this point, trusting Jaime seems quite natural. But for Jon, it's anything but.
I hope you keep exploring this pairing- I'm slowly but surely falling in love with it, and some more amazing Jon/Sansa fic from you might be enough to push me over the edge. ;)

I think initially Jon would be a little thrown by a strong Sansa, since that is so far from what he knew her as, and so he'd definitely want to protect her. He'll learn fast enough. :)
Sansa offing Petyr is like my running theme, isn't it? But it just seemed fitting in this, where Jon is not fully aware of Sansa's abilities, that he'd assume Jaime has something over on her, because he saved her from Littlefinger.
As I expand this fic, I think Jamie and Jon scenes might end up being a lot of fun, playing off that jealousy.
I love Jon/Sansa! If I can get you on board the ship, it will be a job well done, since I'd be thrilled to have you writing for the pair. There aren't enough fics out there for it, but like Jaime/Sansa, the level of quality is very, very high. Perfect ship to adopt. ;)

I love how aware he is of everything about he and of course how you incorporated Jaime there (in my head this fic is a little Jaime/Sansa/Jon ;D).

It is a little bit Jaime/Sansa/Jon. I think as I expand this into a full length fic in the future, that's definitely one of the angles I'll play with.

I LOVE the way you write Sansa here, how she's grown into her own and how subtly her strength shines through (I really liked how you highlighted that she didn't need to wait for anyone to ~take care of Littlefinger hehe)
Also, love Jon's little jealousy spell and Sansa' easy dismissal of it ;) I particularly liked how she said that Jaime had "his own kind of honor" because it demonstrates a sort of understanding that someone who experienced what Sansa had could now boost, whereas someone like Jon may be far less inclined to *-)
Basically, I am so thrilled that you're writing for this pairing now, though you probably already knew that hehe <333

Sansa killing Petyr is one of my favorite future potential plot lines. It would be very poetic.

I would like to think of Sansa developing into a strong woman, who has insight into how people work. I think that might lead her to take a more nuanced view of the people the rest of her family would dismiss as enemies. She knows the truth can be much darker and more unexpected.
I love the pairing, and I love everything all you talented writers have written for it thus far!

You write brilliantly, and I love how strong and capable your Sansa is (killing petyr, yay!). And how she longs for and loves Jon...And woo the non-sisterly thoughts Jon having, how delighted he'll be when he discovers that she's feeling the same way...and Jaime, how great of you to throw in him...and the jealousy between the two men was perfectly delicious...But ultimately (in my view anyway), Jaime can't really compete - I mean how can anyone compete with Jon? He's the perfect hero...humble beginnings, grew up believing in honor and duty, and of course ends up Targaryen king...and we all know he's just so hot...
Ok I'm rambling, I know...but I can't wait for the expanded version!!! And also - would you mind posting this on fanfiction.net or archive of our own so I can have a handy spot for all my fav fics? Its so hard to keep track of these separately...

I hope Sansa ends up confident and strong in canon, and I think part of that will probably involve excising Petyr from her life...perhaps by killing him.
Hopefully we'll see more of Sansa's feelings for Jon in the upcoming chapters. I will definitely explore more jealous!Jon and jealous!Jaime, because that's just too much fun. But, you're right, in this case, Jaime is bound to be on the losing end, and I think he knows that.
I have updated/expanded, and you can find it here. I always post first to LJ, but I will eventually get them up on fanfic.net and AO3 too, so whatever your preference, you should be covered. :)
Thanks for reading and commenting!
