So last year I had made a post about games not being like they used to be. I desired a classic side-scroller with simple gameplay. Although i did want some additions, such as online play or multiplayer functionality. But the gaming gods have decided that a peace offering is due and have delivered unto the world a classic game. Megaman 9. I have played it, and i can honestly say that this game is like its old counterparts. It is Just like Megaman 1 and 2. Even to the point where a player like me must grind for screws on the first level to afford enough energy tanks so that he can beat the first boss and attain a weapon with which he can kill the rest of the robots in the proper order. As far as gameplay i am very pleased with the game, there are a few things i think are retarded but they were intentionally done in order to be more like the older games. Such as re-spawning enemies if you move their location off screen and then back on screen. I also think no charge buster is stupid as well it is a weapon that they have had in the game for quite some time. But these are things i can live without. What i really don't understand is why the graphics had to be downgraded so far. I liked the megaman 8 graphics. I thought the reason for making more powerful machines was to be able to boost our graphics and gameplay capabilities.
Yes i realize it sounds like i am complaining about the things i wanted, And in part i am. But i did not want to go back this far. But no one can be pleased 100% so i am fine with the choices made for this game because it is what some people wanted. But would a difficulty setting be all that hard to implement? I mean come on, I don't play every game i have on the hardest difficulty i work up to it.
I have not finished the game yet but on a scale of 1-10 i would give it an 8.
