Tracy's good deed for the day

Mar 12, 2003 12:57

I've been helping our upstairs neighbor proofread a report for the big final project in one of her classes, so I feel like a good person. Also, I'm a pretty darn good proofreader/editor, if I do say so myself. Maybe I should whore myself out to U. of O students: "Been staring at that paper so long it doesn't mean anything to you anymore? Let me ask you questions about it to clarify your ideas, and catch the mistakes your spellchecker didn't." Hmmmm. I have seen ads like that around town, especially around finals week, so there might be a market... I wonder what the going hourly rate for friendly proofreader/editors is. Lately I am full of schemes for going into business for myself, although since my parents own(ed) their own business all my life, I already know firsthand that being self-employed is a colossal legalese/financial pain in the ass. Sigh.... now I should start being productive on my own work for a change, I guess.

Update, 1:09 PM: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MART!N! (msmithma)

friends, unemployment, editing, birthdays
