oh wow im psyched that not only did you not mind the 2nd person, it could even add to the fic in some way and give you feels skdfjskfj i think thats the greatest accomplishment a markson fic can attain -- giving the reader markson feels. i totally understand what you mean i was concerned that the use of 'you' could make it read like self-insert or idol/you too which im not really into. omggg "to your advantage and at least for me you succeeded in conveying the intense emotions of the narrator onto the reader so much that I felt every emotion like it was my own" this is like, the most epic compliment on earth??? i can't believe that you felt i succeeded in achieving the ultimate aim of second person which is to involve the reader and make them feel like they are the protagonist in the fic!!! and even more so if you usually find it hard to empathize guhhh that makes this compliment 10x more precious ;;; this is my first time writing 2nd person especially for such a long fic and the style was kinda experimental and v different from my usual fics and i don't think its perfect but im really glad you felt it was a good try!! :))) i was thinking maybe i should've just written it in the conventional style of third person but it just felt right to use 2nd person although i was aware it might end up too obscure or strange and im really pleased that it worked for you and made you feel "all sorts of things" dkgjdkjgkfg if it was effective in even helping you to have one little markson feel i'd be over the moon :D
dkjfkjgk pls like i said im the one who's blessed to have been so overrated by the fandom ;__; i can't get over how you complimented every aspect of this fic -- my characterization, narration and now the prose!!! "eloquently" cries im sure you're far more eloquent, most of the time i feel incoherent hahaha "No words felt superfluous" and "everything just added up" odg im delighted that you thought so!!! the vocab here is a little more flowery and dense than my usual fics so im glad you didn't find it too distracting or forced :) i laughed at this lmao idk why "quite expertly if I may say so myself" you're hilarious xD expertly gurgles you're too nice im glad you found the parallels well arranged because i left out a lot of parts i initially planned and didn't really bother to match the two parts so it ended up a little slipshod :P
holy shit this is such a great compliment i can't even "how their vastly different personalities were juxtaposed in a way that does not highlight the way they differ but instead how they complement and complete each other" im elated that you saw it that way!!! i think thats really the magic of markson and it means a lot that you felt i managed to capture their complex compatibility accurately :) weeps thank you so much for quoting that line out of all the lines in the fic, i didn't think it was particularly eye-catching but the fact that you read this meticulously enough to notice it makes me happy. your observations are so special and insightful and after you quoted it i feel like that line pretty much summarizes markson's dynamic for me too.
