hi, this is gotchick :) sorry im replying you on anon, and a few days late. i hope i didn't cause you to check back fruitlessly too many times! i usually try to reply anon comments immediately when i receive them but i've been busy this week and didn't see this comment until a few days after it was posted. im not logged in now bc im on my phone but i didn't want to make you wait any longer for a reply. i also didn't want to make you worry that i might be offended by your comment because im not at all! :) in fact, it made me really happy to receive it and im very grateful to you for going out of your way to drop me such a thoughtful and honest comment even though you don't have an lj. i love receiving concrit because it helps me improve but i don't receive it often enough, my frequent readers would know that i even ask for it on some fics! so hearing your thoughts on this fic was really helpful and thought-provoking for me :)
there is no need to apologize that you stopped reading! this fic is super long so making it halfway through is already considered a great feat to me lol, and im sure reading these two parts took you much time and dedication! im very thankful you spent the time and effort to read half of it and wondered if the beautiful anon comment i received on part 1 complimenting the fic was also from you (as i saw the timing was close to this one) if so i would like to thank you very much for your gorgeous compliments there!! if not, its okay lol and i'd still like to thank you for this wonderful one :) you're right that it would be natural for most people who didnt finish the fic to just close the tab and forget about it (and im pretty sure you're not the only one who didn't, but you were the only one who still bothered to leave me a meaningful comment to let me know your thoughts thus far, so i really appreciate it!) and its rare for a reader to be so sweet to drop me a comment despite that to tell me why they didn't stick around or maybe lost interest in the fic so i could improve in future :) im very flattered that you have a question about the fic and its important to you to know the answer! like i said your comment provoked a lot of thoughts in me and made me ponder for some hours too. i dont know if i can provide a satisfactory answer to you but i hope that my answer could be at least a little helpful in clearing some of your doubts, even if it does not excuse the flaws of this fic! just so its clear, im not trying to justify any of the characters' wrongdoings but merely trying to express what i was thinking when i wrote those scenes :) i read your comment carefully a few times and can definitely understand where you are coming from, as well as your feelings and opinions and i respect and value them greatly. as i said, i haven't received any dissenting comments on this fic so far (although i've always thought the characters' actions to be controversial at times) so it was very refreshing for me to hear your viewpoint :)
i totally agree that you are right that both technically and literally, it was stealing. maybe i was wrong to use the word "accident" and i apologize for that but i had no intention of meaning that stealing is something that could be forgiven as an accident. it is a very serious offense and should be treated as such. im so sorry if i unintentionally came across sounding like i was trivializing or condoning the act of stealing, because i in no way meant any disrespect. im sorry for causing you unpleasant feelings to the point that it spoiled the whole fic for you which you might otherwise have enjoyed.
but since you want to know the reasons why i wrote it that way (although i might have been wrong to, as i said i am aware that this fic has many flaws and i myself have lots of areas i have to improve in as a writer), i was aware that such an action would have lasting repercussions and never intended to sweep it under the rug. the incident was actually intended to be a catalyst causing mistrust in their relationship later on as well as a current of unease in their minds, manifesting itself in a bigger understanding in chapter 3.
