Wes shakes his head, face finally breaking into one of his very rare smiles. Remembering how Rachel looked that last plague day and comparing it to how she looks now, Wes would do anything for her to remain this way.
He pulls her back into another hug, pressing a quick kiss on her head.
"And you're happy?"
Not that it isn't obvious, not that he can't feel the elation like a warm bubble in his own chest but a guardian still wants to make sure.
Rachel's face lights up all over again at that smile.
"Yes," she insists. "Yes. I'm happy. More than I've ever been."
She curls into him, resting her head on his shoulder. "We're not making a big deal of this. No big announcements or ceremony or anything. We're probably not gonna get married for a while yet. But I wanted you to know."
His ward's marrying a demon. The way her face lights up though, kinda hard to keep from giving her the world. Not that he would ever, ever admit it. Naturally.
Wes grins into her hair.
"Won't tell a soul, darlin.'"
Course, that does mean he has a journal entry to write.
"Wes!" she calls out, striding into the garage. "Wesley! Where are you? I'm here!"
Reply
Unf.
He smirks a little at the energy she shows as she storms into his shop.
"Darlin', did you win the lottery or something?"
Reply
"Kinda! In a manner of speaking. Except... better."
She beams.
"I'm getting married! Adrian asked and I said yes!"

And more silence.
And...well, more of it. He is so shocked it takes a while for his own arms to wrap around her.
"Aw, hell. If I say he and I now need to have words, are you gonna threaten to beat my ass even though you can't?"
Reply
That long silence was awkward. And maybe this is a self-centered question but... "Hey. You okay? You just seem... I dunno. Shocked."

Wes scratches the back of his head.
"Weren't there two demons?"
...Wes is not very good at relationships.
Reply
"There still are."
...Wesley, you may be sorry you asked.

He is still a southern boy at heart. A very confused southern boy at heart.
"Whatting the what what?"
Reply
"Just 'cause I'm marrying one doesn't mean I stop loving the other one. Shit."
