Holland so far had been a massive letdown for the American forces there. Operation Market Garden wasn't the exact best of campaings the 101st had been in. In fact, compaired to Normandy, it was the first time the whole Division had faced failure.
HQ for the 2nd Battalion had seen little action throughout the day. The germans on the otherside of 'the Island' had little to no movement that they were able to see. Most of the troops assigned to the company drilled, took patrols, and listend to the radio. Thankfully the Dutch were still kind enough to pass on fruits though their less than tactful flight from Neunen at their first major defeat.
It's midday and inspite of the sun shining down for once it's cold. No doubt a frost would settle over the land within the next few days. Patrols are out walking past destroyed jeeps, a few dead German bodies and the fewer American ones. One patrol in particular hadn't reported back in hours, their corpses resting along the dike where a German sniper had pinked them off. It's quite possible to find a uniform that's not to bloody to wear...
