[ Accidental Audio ] Daddy?

Jun 20, 2010 12:30

[Jo's at work, scrubbing down the bar with a damp rag and is pretty damn unexcited to be doing so. Day time shifts are always slow - which is probably good, seeing as she works at a bar - but today seems particularly sluggish and she's not exactly loving it. Her communicator shifts in the large front pocket of her apron as she moves from behind the counter to the nearest table, and she's really gotta learn to lock the keys or something because now it's on without her realizing it. There are 8 tables, 2 are occupied, which means she has 3 hours to clean off 6 tables. That shouldn't be too hard! She's quick to give the few customers a smile, not wanting to give off a bad vibe while they were trying to enjoy their time out.]

You folks need any-- thing?

[Oh, God her mind is playing tricks on her. Boredom can do that, right? Being so bored that you start to see things? There was an elderly couple sharing fries, which was totally normal, and a young kid gulping down soda, also normal, but at the corner table sat William Anthony Harvelle, and that was definitely not normal. Jo was halfway caught between screaming in shock and crying from either happiness or fear. It was impossible to figure out which was going to end up happening first.

Jo walked over to the table, blinking hard, half-hoping he would just go away. But sure enough there he was, wearing the same clothes she barely remembered from the last time she saw him, about fifteen years ago. Leather coat, dark blue shirt under it, worn in jeans, work boots. While one hand clutches the rag, the other one is ghosting over the iron knife on her belt. Her dad just smiles, shaking his head.]

I ain't a demon, babygirl.

"Well, you're not real. You're- You can't be here. You died."

T'be fair, so did you.

It stung, but it was true. If she had been able to show up here, why couldn't he? And he was still smiling and it was making her chest hurt. Jo pulled the chair across from his out from under the table and sat down slowly, focusing on her breathing and just trying to keep herself together. "Did you just get here?"

Showed up this morning. I've been lookin' for you, your friends told me you worked here. Still keepin' up with the family business, huh?

It was strange, but it was like the longer she sat there with him, the more... real he seemed. More solid. Her bottom lip was threatening to split where she chewed in thought, trying to wrap her mind around what was happening. It couldn't have been real. Could it?

Ah, honey don't cry. It's alright, I'm here now. We'll find your mother too, so we can all be together again.

"I wanna believe you, but-"

Isn't that what you want? No more demons, just us. We'll be a real family again.

"Can't believe you're actually here, Dad. Goddamnit, I missed you." While a few tears managed to escape, she's rubbing at her eyes to get rid of the rest, because they're in friggin' public and really this is just all too much.

[OOC: Open for interruptions! She's definitely on the verge of siding with him being real, so feel free to think she's crazypants if she tries to introduce you. And also prepare for some wrath if you try to take him away from her. Yeeeah. Assume the conversation is just continuing like that, they pair just sitting there talking while she's supposed to be working, heh.]
