Yeah, I'm aware that going to college and getting a degree doesn't mean steady career. I've heard a lot about this lately. It's not uncommon for people to work in 3 or 4 different fields once they graduate.
I enjoy writing. I guess it's just that journalism isn't as interesting as writing I've done in the past. Honestly the most challenging writing I've done was back in high school.
I think that's another problem. College isn't what I expected. I mean, I usually get my shit done on time and stuff. When I feel challenged by a class I typically try a lot harder. That's what I did senior year of high school when I was taking 3 AP courses and physics. I expected college to be difficult. It's just not, at least not most of the time. So I usually don't have the motivation to do my work because it just seems like a chore. The other reason I have little to no motivation is the fact that chances of finding a job in that field are slim to none like I said.
At this point I'm just soldiering through it all so I can graduate and have a degree really. Because as you said, college majors don't have to be your career and degrees do open up some other options.
Journalism hasn't made me hate writing. It's just that the journalistic style of writing is dull.
