Hey, Rapunzel, been a while. You could say that; he was, ah... well, he's my best friend, so... [No past tense. Roxas may not be here anymore, but he's still his best friend.]

Did you know him? [Roxas was out traipsing about town a lot, but Axel realizes he doesn't really know if the kid had many other friends...]

But I bet he's really great, if he's your best friend! Maybe I'll get to meet him in the future!

[There's a tired smile in his voice.]

Heh, well, I'll make sure to introduce you guys whenever he decides to get his lazy ass back here. I think you two'd get along great.

[There's a moment of hesitation, then he clears his throat awkwardly.]

[ There's a pause of her end. ]

... You know, we met in a situation really similar to this! [ She laughs. ] I was really upset about my friend leaving, but you helped cheer me up!
