I graduate in a year and a half. And with that comes a degree, a degree that says what? that i'm now OFFICIALLY better than flipping burgers at McDonalds? I'm half tempted to make that my first job out of college - if only i could stand the public. I always knew a degree doesn't really mean anything, you have to go above a B.A. but if you really think about it, the only thing it gets you is an entry level job as a fucking secretary. I had that my Freshman year.
what i'm wondering is why - if a degree doesn't mean shit - does society place such importance on obtaining such degree? Granted it's a step above a HS diploma but not a whole hell of a lot. Assuming that i'm the typical shit for brains college student, the only thing a degree means is that i can cheat really well and manipulate teachers to extend due dates... i'm sure that'll come in REAL handy the next time a deadline comes up at the law firm.
Anywho, i guess i'm just bitter that i'm spending $16,000 for four years of school i could've done for half of that and obtained the same social sense of validation i so much yearn for!*
*Sarcasm for you that didn't get that.
