Dear Friends,

I’m pleased to report that the House and Senate voted last night to restore another $2.5 million in funding for Zoo New England’s Franklin Park Zoo and Stone Zoo, which would bring the Zoos’ total FY10 state funding to $5 million.

Although there are a host of variables involved in trying to make this funding level work, and our progress toward greater self sufficiency will certainly be slowed, the bottom line is that - with $5 million in public funding - both Zoos will remain open.

We are grateful to you and the thousands of your fellow Zoo supporters who have worked so hard on behalf of the Zoos, and to the Legislature for understanding the importance of providing this funding.

However, there is still one more step in this process: in order for this funding to go into effect, the governor must sign the supplemental budget.

With this in mind, I ask that you please contact Governor Patrick - by calling (617) 725-4000 or clicking here - and let him know that it is critically important to you that he accept the Zoo funding called for in the supplemental budget.
Again, on behalf of the entire Zoo New England family, I thank you for all of your support and effort.

Sincerely,

John Linehan
President & CEO
