Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

So. I went to see it last night. After it was done, we came home pretty quickly, I rushed to my compo so I could post my opinion on it, and lj was down. Hence the delay.

The theater I went to was a pretty small one, and cheaper than all the bigger ones, so we only had to pay 5 € for our tickets. And after seeing the movie, I was happy it was only that little.

The movie started like it probably did for everybody else, the build up to the Dementor attack. The problem was they actually dared to start it in the Dutch spoken version. Great! Half the people got up, trying to switch over to the next room where the English one was probably playing, but after a minute or two they switched over to English, and so people settled down again. Problem? Yup, they didn't start it again, and so half of the first scene was lost. Yay! Nice start for the movie, isn't it? Missing half a scene?

So, Dudley got all his luck sucked out. Petunia claimed he looked terrible after the attack, but honestly, he didn't change that much! What have they done to him? He was just a fat and obnoxious boy before, but now he looked really, well, stupid, too, with his eyes doing that thing. Urgh. Really dumb...

From there on, they really jumped on some kind of very fast train. I really had the impression someone took the book in hand, chopped it up entirely, crossing out some things here and there, and took the remaining few sentences and tried making a movie out of it. Well, maybe that's a bit too harsh, but I just had the feeling that, once you were finally with your thoughts in one scene, they were already half way in the other one. Not good. And that was my overall feeling for the movie. It did improve some towards the ending, I think, but not much. After it was done, I didn't have the impression I just was a movie that ran for what? Two hours and about 18 minutes, or what was it again? Felt more like half an hour before the break, and some 40 minutes after it? Did someone else also have that impression, or am I just being stupid?

Ok, enough with taking the movie down. Now let's build it up some, too.

What was the most brilliant part about this movie? Right. Teh Snarry moments! Since when did Harry require immediate Occlumency lessons after that vision? He didn't in the book, but the effects were rather nice in the movie. Snape dragging Harry (by arm! Or did I dream that up?) into the darkness of his dungeons in the middle of the night, Harry still nicely in his pj's. And boy, was he sweating during that lesson! Muahuah. Good boy.

But even a better part was the memories in the Occlumency lesson! Eleven year old Harry, staring into the Mirror of Erised, seeing his true heart's desire, into the form of his mother, Lily Evans, his father, James Potter, and his dark haired Potions Master, prof. Severus Snape. We couldn't have written that scene any better than they showed it, right? Very nicely done, people!

Bummer part about the lessons? How they ended them. It was perfectly alright for Harry to use a spell to get Severus out of his mind, the book said. Now, his Protego! ended the lessons rather abruptly, just when they were doing so *cough* well.

Alright, now some general stuff!

Grimmauld Place - Not like it was in my mind. I rather had the stairs immediately to the right, when coming into the house, the hall was very small, wasn't it? The tapestry was pretty nicely done, I didn't imagine it taking up an entire room, though?

Kreacher - His voice? Wth was that? It was a regular man's, not a funny one like Dobby? I do think that it was slightly better when we heard him the second time. Still strange, though.

The MOM - Urgh? I didn't really get the impression it was about town-like in the books, and that was what it looked like to me in the movie? Well, half of it was torn down, so not that bad any more!

The DA - Well, quite different too, and all those scenes so close together! Strange that they didn't pick Marietta Edgecombe to betray the DA, but they picked Cho Chang instead? Not that she did it on purpose, with that Veritaserum thing. Hmm.

The Trio - I'm glad they didn't let Harry scream his head off during the movie. That really bugged me in the book. He's still pretty angry, but he doesn't scream. Phew. I never dislike the way the kids act, but I don't think I was too happy with 'Harry' now, but like I said, I don't really like Harry in the book, so it'll influence my feelings for the movie, too. After watching it again, it might be all be better. Did Ron have any lines? Must not have been that many, cos I practically didn't notice him around. Ouch. Hermione was good, as she always is. Emma's pretty good at what she does.

Draco - Two lines, tops? Tsk tsk tsk. I hardly noticed him in the scene where they came out of the Hogwarts Express. He passed by so quickly...

Luna - I found her strange, as she's supposed to be? I had a slight problem with how the girl started her sentences. Yes, she was on another planet when she started speaking, but imo she was a planet or two too far away. Lol. Still liked seeing her around, though! Especially in the added scene with the baby Thestral!

Sirius - *Glomp* Gary, you da man! Sirius is great, he'll always be, and he's not dead! Stupid about that last sentence, really. That was totally unnecessary. I know he thinks Harry looks like James, but that went to far, imo.

Tonks - Very nice! She actually looked so young and different from the promo pic I'd seen. The nose scene was included as well, and well, strange, and when I rewatch it, maybe even funny?

Bella - Bummer about all the hair being in her face! I wanted to see her complete expression, but nope... I wanted to somewhere like her, but they really didn't give her that much time, either, so it didn't happen.

Lucius - *Glomps next* Yum as ever. I should really check that harrylu thing out, lol. I loved Harry/Lucius in Montana's To Have Not.

Voldemort - After book 7, I just wanna laugh in his face, you know? Nice arm muscles. *cough*

Teh kiss - Didn't bother me at all! Phew! I don't really like Cho Chang, she's kinda a Quidditch ho... Lol.

The Prophecy part - Wth? If you let the prophecy be heard when you touch it, doesn't that mean the kids and DEs heard it? Hmmm. Liked the way it smashed!

The Fight at the MOM - Apparating during fighting? Er? What if you Apparate straight into a spell? Ouch! Everything about that was just fancy firework, but didn't really do anything for me, content wise. It didn't really make much sense, and I was happy it slowed down at one point. Bummer they didn't show how Sirius fell out on the other side, totally fine, and Apparating out of there, straight to Bermuda. It happened like that. It really did.

Kingsley - Lol. Definitely not what I suspected. I knew he was different, but that different? He was right, though, Dumbles does have style! That Fawkes scene was nicely done!

*Edit* Eep! Forgot to mention another great part of the movie, even if it was gone in a flash. Remember the other movies? I think normally Snape is sitting all the way to the left? This time, you see him about all the way to the right, in the second chair, next to a pink blob named Umbridge, who's sitting on the outside! Poor Severus! What were they thinking? Nobody wanted to talk to her, so they put the one next to her who certainly won't say a thing? *Snort*

Oh, forgot another thing. Umbridge. She could have been worse. Really. She was pretty much ok.

/rant.

Phew. Was that about it? I'd better be. It was pretty much to type. Hoped the lj cut worked, and that I haven't bored anyone to death.

Agree? Disagree? Opinions are always welcome!

Spikey
