Sanctuary: 1x01 + 1x02 - Sanctuary For All

Here are some thoughts about the newest show Sanctuary...

I just finished watching the premiere episode(s) of Sanctuary, named Sanctuary For All.

It was pretty much what was shown in the webisodes, but there was of course much more room for explanations, some scenes were longer, some more added, etc. so overall I was very happy about the feel of the episodes!

It's especially funny because there's a whole lot of actors from SGA used in this show! Kavan was amazing, he must be so happy he could finally sink his teeth into a somewhat bigger part than that of Major Lorne on Stargate! He had very nice lengthy texts! I saw him on The 4400 yesterday, (an episode where an old woman lost oil through her hands that made people see a person from the past, in case you're wondering), and he had only like one or two lines in it? Poor him. But like I said, this was much, much more, and the boy showed he could act, too. Hopefully he'll land some other great jobs, and he'll find time to cooperate on the SGA movies too, of course! He deserves it.

Ryan Robbins also had a larger part than he had in the webisodes, as there he was maybe on one short scene, and now it was much clearer what part he actually plays in the story, so that's great! I hope we'll see him again, and it's great you can't really recognise him as Ladon Radim, unless you're really looking for it, imo.

Chris. What's there to say? That guy is amazing, and we all know it! Is there anything he can't do? John Druitt didn't get Helen as far as to confess that Ashley is his and her daughter, this time, but there'll be a time when she finds out, probably. Maybe end of season-ish? Depends on whether he's gone for a while, or not. They had him fight in this episode, too, like they did in the webisode part it was based on, but the scene was pretty different, especially the guy Ashley got the weapons from. But enough of that now, back to Chris. It was very funny to see him, or hear him, 'Todd', whistle at 'Ladon Radim', like he's some kind of dog, to come back to him, as he was trying to escape, and then also say to him "Please, show me around" - you remember Todd's 'please''s, right? *drool* - and then also shooting him down. *g* Payback, stupid Genii! Oh wait, not in this show... ^^ And then there's of course the part where Helen has an EM shield across her Sanctuary building, for protection from him, so he can't appear within it, suddenly. That scene was very funny! He just flew straight out again, on his bum. :P

David Hewlett was not in it, this time. And I don't really know any more what his character was doing in the webisode, either. Well, he was some kind of wacko that murdered, or raped, or... I don't know any more, but he did it for a 'reason'.

It was also much more clear what Dr. Zimmerman's profession was, in this episode, than it was in the webisodes (must be because they were so short, so they didn't get to explain a lot). He's apparently had his mother killed before him, by some kind of monster, and he's been telling people about monsters ever since, even though he's not believed, and ridiculed for it, even. Helen was present, but could hardly save him from the monster. No idea of the Beast Man ever scared him in this 'universe' too... We'll find out in the next episodes.

By the way, does Chris play that Beast Man too? I mean, there was this webisode where his voice and mannerisms was very much Chris/Todd... So, if you know he does, or if you know he's only been him for one ep... Just lemme know. Some say it's Dan Payne? Aka the Sateda Super Wraith, who's actually quite cute in real life... ^^

No need to say that Amanda Tapping is amazing in everything she does, right? So talented, that one. Glad to see her sink her teeth in something else, too...

I've rambled enough for now, I think, so I'll close on Helen's line:

Sanctuary For All... Is Not An Empty Motto.

Hope there's other people who watched it, and liked it!
