We've been cancelled, hun...

In favour of starting SGU, as expected.

We've been promised several movies, starting with a 2 hour tv movie to finish up after 5x20...

If Michael doesn't die in The Prodigal (if that's indeed his final ep this season), then he'll get his in a movie, I suspect...

I think that one can say that the success of the Stargate movies The Ark Of Truth and Continuum sounds very promising for giving Atlantis not a complete axe, but I hope that that hasn't been a factor in the decision to axe it now, rather than next season.

Apparently, as there's no real official press release just yet, I think, it's been MGM's decision, rather than SciFi (those latter jumped at the chance to be the first to broadcast the first movie), so hopefully all those fans that got disappointed because the ratings were so good, and the show is looking so good right now, decide not to watch SGU on telly, should they wanna see it, but download it, or something...

I dearly hope that they won't get all the viewers SGA has now. I doubt it'll be interesting enough to keep us hanging around for 5 seasons, we already did the concept of SGU with Voyager, etc.

WTF? It is doing really well, so the logical thing to do it cancel it? What the hell are they thinking? Wouldn't it make more sense to keep Atlantis on the air for another season just in case SGU bombs?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I told my brother not to download anything, and he says he didn't, but I know he's lying because we had a Trojan horse that was downloaded with a program that the computer wouldn't let me delete. I've been fighting with it for days now and had to give in and buy a program that let me force it to uninstall. *grumbles* I just got it back up and working and am running Norton right now to make sure that there aren't any other surprises waiting to screw up my computer. Gotta love teenagers!

Maybe they expect it to drown after season 6, and so as to prevent it from getting unpopular, they're gonna try to quickly get some more money out of it?

Picture this:

Over here:

The Ark of Truth: 15.99 € = 2 episodes, budget for movie = 7 million
Season 3: 38.99 € = 20 episodes, budget for season = like 50 million? (I don't know)

Meaning, they can get way more money out of the franchise (read: us) if they make some more movies and bring them out on DVD for us to buy.

I think ep 20 is still being written, and then there's going to immediately follow a movie in January, featuring Todd (maybe Michael is in it too, and it finishes up his storyline? Aka Michael goes boom). If that movie, which will first air on SciFi and then get put on DVD turns out to be successful, there might be other movies.

I really hope that they can indeed come up with good stories, and most importantly, that the cast is willing to fully come back!

JM was already talking about calling it quits after season 6, maybe he can do so now, after season 5? I do think that they should make an effort in trying to get him to stay by getting rid of that wig that's even heavier than his dreads used to be!

Oh, and great on the teenager! I think something in my pc might just have exploded? Lol. The computer guy is mailing me on Monday with suggestions to update my 7 year old PIII to Dual Core 2.
