Yesterday was Jasons 24th birthday.. the day before was our 8 monthaversary. I'm in my second full week of school now, taking biology, geology, math and logic... whee.. school is fun! I got a small student loan that managed to cover my tuition and books and leave me with 500 dollars total.. so by february all my accessible savings will be gone. Jason is looking into getting a security job at Point Lepreau as they start out at 25 dollars an hour plus benefits. His military background should qualify him but the par test (where you lift, pull, run etc...) will almost kill him he thinks. As of now, between us we have an income of 1000 dollars a month plus whatever i take out of my savings.. so... I'm not going to make jokes about poverty because we're better off than most people in the south end.. but we're going to have to be as careful as we can for now. The reason this is all in my mind is because I've been reminded that I lent out a significant chunk of money to friends who apparently really needed it and who promised to pay me back within a few months and it has now been almost a year. They go to expensive shows, buy expensive electronics and take expensive trips... but they can't or won't pay me back. It hurts and I should have learned the lesson years ago. So, never again... not that I'll be able ever again because my savings are reaching their end.
Apart from all this, life seems to be good.. Pam moved in with us and cooks up a storm.. We're going to go around town thursday looking for the cheapest gym membership.. Student rates are awesome.. but if its out of our league I'm going to buy a yoga ball and teach jason the ways of boingy boingy health.. it can be fun. The last couple weeks were stressful.. getting acclimated to school again wasn't as hard as acclimating to sciences. I need to brush up on high school math and chemistry before taking first year chemistry and calculus.. I learned the hard way by going to chemistry classes and labs and floundering around for a week or so until admitting defeat. Oh well, I don't need to take the traditional route, in fact i prefer the semi-disorganized planning..
Oh, news.. Claire broke her ankle while flying out the door in a hurry to get to work. She was in the hospital for 4 days i think.. They had to operate and put several pieces of metal in her ankle. Apparently both the main supporting bones broke in several bad places. Now there are questions as to calcium deficiencies weakening her bones due to her epilepsy meds. I haven't found out about the test results yet. Anyways I dropped down between classes and hung out with her. Unfortunately I got to miss the extremely drugged up parts of her stay so we had a more or less normal conversation instead of one filled with psychodelic(sp?)fun. So, she's got crutches AND a wheelchair..
On friday Mom and I are going on a geological field trip with the purpose of collecting 3 different rocks for my first assignment. Mom is a self-taught geologist and knows all the cool rock spots in Saint John... Yes I took advantage of her interest for transportation and Mother-Daughter bonding time.
Jason and I are doing well together. After 8 months we still cuddle and talk and other healthy interactions we can come up with. Though we both suffer short fits of depression due to the seeming hopelessness of this town, together we plot our escape.... just wait... We argue occasionally but so far there have only really been 2 incidences of arguments turning into all out loud fights.. and even those were settled relatively quickly. We both generally admit when we're wrong and show concern when we hurt eachother, even if sometimes one of us has to be told that we've done it(guess who?)
Anywhoo, I have a biology class to go to.. I think the topic today is Archea.... little lifeforms that do.. well i don't know yet but I'll tell you later.
