my videocard died a few days ago so i got a new one. now i'll be even more in the hole for christmas.. oh well i have enough yarn to knit a couple more scarves i think.
I've been having dreams about future times and people again. i couldn't hold on to the details though
I'm reading "A peoples History of the United States" and last night i couldn't stop reading till my eyes gave out. It traces the history from the first European explorers to today.. It focuses on the perspective of the natives, blacks, mexicans, the working class, immigrants, women.. its amazing and horrific and very well written and its made me start thinking if there is a solution to the large exploitative systems maybe history and human responses could be the best place to look. History is a story.. I can read stories, and then test theories instead of learning theories and then looking for proof of them.
During the reading i had to stop once to write a song about an exboyfriend because i was struck by how he glorified war and violence and repressing emotions.. some things that come up in history..
So i've been off drinking for over two weeks. i made two exceptions - the christmas work party, and my friend Annas birthday formal dance party at club montreal. that was an interesting night.. went out with people from work, they left eventually and claire, pam, jason and andrew were about so we all had a good time and then after the bar ran into an old teacher and made a drunken ass of myself.. well not so bad..
So it's been a year of singleness. I'm still lonely but its not as painful as it was.. i'm getting used to it.. and having so many friends in relationships lets me be reminded daily of the tedious and painful parts of relationships.. stil at the end of the day it would be nice to have someone who had an overall affection for me.
Anyways, time to make Keith an official room mate. We're getting his key cut today..
