In Brightest Day, In Blackes---omg zombiessss

Jul 16, 2009 16:47

Well yesterday was the kick-off of DC's new massive crossover event, Blackest Night. For those of us who've only suffered the loss of beloved minor characters, this will be interesting. For those of you who loved the sparkling personalities in Superbuddies.

I'm so sorry.

They're like zombies, but IN SPACE )

comics, sharing, sara tops nobody, sara actually has a riddlecane

Why is it that everyone who was in the Superbuddies wound up having a truly truly horrific time of it afterwards?

DC hates nice things.

Truly, they do. No one is ever allowed to be *happy* in the DC universe.

Maybe people there don't need to eat, they just get their energy from angst...?

No one. Ever. Happiness died.

That would be the best power supply ever. Angst. No one would starve in the DCU.

And hey! If someone was feeling a bit peckish, they could just stop off and have some light drama in Metropolis! Have a late night snack over in Hub City, and a three-course meal over in Bludhaven!

Everyone would OD in Gotham. They'd have to tear the place down.

Gotham would be the gigantic piece of black forest cake that you know you just shouldn't have, but do anyway. And then you go for seconds, thirds, and fourths.

And people would die and that induces more angst this is the best plan ever.

It's the curse of the Giffin League.

Shit, they even got to Batman.

It's Giffin Bingo! Get your scorecards ready, kids, and let's see who's going to be put through unspeakable and horrible angst next! Bonus points if that character is brought back to life just to be tortured some more!

Honestly, though, those characters are by and large well-loved enough to make a compelling story killing them off, but not well-loved enough to sell comics on their own.

Hence. The curse of the Giffen League.
