Ok, so, questions! What would your character consider their best/happiest memory? What would be their worst? Would their opinions of events be different from what you, as a player, would consider the happiest/saddest moments in their canon? What about in game?
DO I REALLY WANT TO THINK ABOUT WHAT LUST WOULD CONSIDER A FAVORITE MEMORY yes i do
What she'd consider her happiest memory would have to be something most likely headcanony and long in the past, though! It's probably a really hideous moment of accomplishment--making a really satisfying kill or torturing valuable information out of someone particularly hard to crack, maybe, and then Father telling her she'd done good afterward. She really likes her work, okay. Her worst moment was, obviously, that point where she was still getting hideously burnt to death but hadn't yet started to dissipate into the air and be all zen "it could be worse ps you're going blind in sixty issues heh" as she died. Burning all over is painful and makes you feel helpless, guys! You heard it here first. And in-game, she's had so much time to think about how she's dead and not coming back that the pleasanter edge it had when she knew it was the end has been pretty much taken off.
In the City, honestly, the best was either that time when she and Knives went on their first date murderspree or when Gluttony showed up. Killing Selina was satisfying and gave her a sense of closure, but it was too brief and caused too much drama later on! Or maybe... it was when she walled Knives............. that lovely child-friendly memory...
The worst in-game memory she has is, unqualifiedly, Gluttony porting out while crying and not knowing what was going on, probably screaming for her to help him, etc. It affected her a lot more than she'd ever be willing to admit, even to herself because all homunculi are emotionally constipated--and ICly she'd probably say her worst moment was being tossed off a building by the Joker or kept in a tube by Eddie for that exact reason--and because she hadn't been ported out yet, it was bonus disturbing because she realized that was exactly what was going to happen to her when she left. She's pretty keenly aware of her status as the only existing person from "her world" currently in the City, and every time someone leaves it's severing her connection to that world even further. For someone with such an investment in her work and #winning in Amestris and so on, that's incredibly unsettling!
